The coverage is excellent, and the color applies beautifully. There's no darkening, which is great. It's even suitable for dry skin. I typically use shade 20-21, and this matches my complexion perfectly, applying smoothly. I usually find foundation tedious, but VDL's is so pretty I'm drawn to use it. Highly recommended! While the photo might be too bright to show clearly, it provides a soft, natural coverage that I love. The pump dispenser can make it a bit tricky to control the amount, and there are times when applying it feels like a chore. It's fantastic! There's a reason why it's so popular. - ky*********Combination SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsRecommendedFeb 23, 2025
I started using this product in early February after seeing many positive reviews. It's highly recommended for those with oily skin, so I decided to give it a try! First off, it covers most blemishes well, but for acne scars, you might want to add a layer of concealer for better coverage. The way it sets on the skin is incredible - the adherence is out of this world! It melds perfectly with your skin, minimizing transfer. The tone is slightly darker than I expected. I usually use shades 19-20, but M01 would be perfect for those who typically wear shade 21. Overall, I'm so satisfied that I'm considering buying a lighter shade next time! It might be due to my lack of makeup skills, but I couldn't avoid some pilling. It was quite noticeable and unattractive, so that's something to be cautious about. I'm planning to research better foundation application techniques! On the bright side, it didn't cause any blemishes, so you can use it with peace of mind! One pump is just the right amount to cover your entire face. Since the tone is a bit dark, I'm mixing it with a brightening moisturizer for a better match. - ej*********Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessRecommendedFeb 6, 2025
The shade 17 is a classic pink beige tone. It applies thinly but has decent coverage. When patted with a damp puff, it lasts long and even fades beautifully. I didn't notice any emphasis on dead skin cells. However, it might be good to address deep dryness. With its semi-matte formula, those with dry skin should build a good skincare base. It sets extremely quickly. So if you try to spread it with a spatula and then apply with a dry puff, it can leave marks. It seems you definitely need to use a puff dampened with mist or water. - hd********Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinInner DrynessRednessRecommendedFeb 5, 2025
I've been using this consistently since last month, and it's absolutely fantastic. The coverage is excellent. I usually use shade 17, which was a bit dark for me, but it still blends naturally, giving a beautiful finish. Nothing particularly bad to mention. Though I must say, applying it with a spatula seems to be the best method. - a0**********Dehydrated SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessRecommendedJan 23, 2025
For summer foundation, I swear by this VDL. It's absolutely phenomenal! The makeup does break down a bit after some time, but that's not enough to not recommend it. When used with the Studio17 Pang Pang Puff, it's a match made in heaven. - li****Combination SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsDark CirclesJan 8, 2025
The coverage is excellent and it really lasts a long time. It also gives a beautiful skin finish. It was fine when I first started using it, but about halfway through, I suddenly started getting constant blemishes on my skin. - sl*****************Dehydrated SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedDec 26, 2024
Skin coverage: I've used this throughout all seasons, and it applies incredibly matte with excellent staying power. It's important to blend immediately after application with a spatula to avoid any streaks. Since my skin tends to cling to makeup, I found it works best when applied with a damp beauty sponge. It's great for covering blemishes ๐ Personally, I think this foundation shines more in summer... it can be a bit too drying in winter. The skin texture becomes very apparent... it's like advertising 'Here are my blemishes!' However, when used together with the Luna concealer, this issue can be addressed. Make sure to apply with a damp sponge and go easy on the powder! - eu********Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedNov 23, 2024
My skin type: Combination dehydrated skin, shade 17 (estimated) Application order: Skincare > Cellfusion C sunscreen > VDL primer (Serenity) > VDL foundation (applied with a spatula brush, once all over, then focused on cheeks, forehead center, between brows, nose bridge, and chin) Shade: I bought M01, which wasn't too different from my complexion. Briefly regretted not getting M00, but M01 looks natural without being too light. The wide range of shades from pink to yellow undertones is great for selection. I chose a pink undertone as yellow doesn't suit me well. Coverage: I prefer a sheer skin look, so one thin layer with a brush doesn't provide much coverage. Two to three layers should cover most blemishes. Since it's not a hydrating formula, I recommend a thin layer and using a concealer pencil for extra coverage to avoid a heavy look. Breakdown: It doesn't break down much, but it's not exceptionally good or bad in this aspect. Just adequate. I wouldn't say it 'breaks down beautifully.' Longevity: It sets incredibly fast. Don't try to apply it all over and then blend - you'll end up with visible lines. I apply it with tension every time. Due to this quick-setting nature, the staying power is top-notch. It's the best among all cushions and foundations I've tried. Applied at 7:30 AM, it's still intact at midnight (disregarding any breakdown). Skin type suitability: With my deeply dehydrated skin, there's a slight tightness due to the quick-setting, non-hydrating formula. It's mild and tolerable. However, after some time, there's a slightly heavy feeling on the skin surface, making me want to wash my face. This feeling is more noticeable than Jung Saem Mool, but less than Giverny matte foundation or Naming cushion. Most cushions and foundations have this effect, so it's somewhat expected. Not recommended for dry skin, but suitable for oily, combination, and combination dehydrated skin. Repurchase: Yes I'd call this my holy grail foundation. Unless a fantastic new foundation appears, this is my current number one. 100% would repurchase. I noticed that when applied over sunscreen, it oddly develops a greasy, shiny layer. I recommend skipping sunscreen and just using a base product. - el******Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedNov 13, 2024
Positive aspects: Lightweight feel: It adheres to the skin while feeling incredibly light, allowing for a natural makeup look. I loved that my skin didn't feel suffocated even after wearing it for long periods. Excellent for oily T-zone: I was particularly satisfied with how it performed on my oily T-zone. The long-lasting matte finish kept my skin from looking shiny. Natural coverage: It provides just the right amount of coverage, smoothing out skin texture and naturally concealing imperfections. Longevity: Durability is what I consider most crucial, and this product truly delivers. It lasts all day long, requiring minimal touch-ups, which is fantastic. Most importantly, there was absolutely no darkening of the product throughout the day - this was honestly my favorite aspect! Please note that I have extremely dry skin (except for my T-zone). Dryness: Due to its matte finish, it may accentuate dead skin cells on very dry skin. Make sure to apply a generous amount of moisturizer beforehand. If you have very dry skin, ensure you create a solid skincare base. With a thorough skincare routine, you won't experience any pilling or darkening. Really focus on hydrating your skin well! Also, be sure to apply the product thinly using a spatula! - tl*******Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresSep 21, 2024
Is there really a foundation like this??? It's amazing!!!!! - Incredible adherence! 5/5 - Makes skin radiant! 5/5 - Lasting power 3/5 - Coverage 5/5 But the downside is unbelievable But... sigh... Please... let's not do this..!!!!!! Blemishes exploded I usually only get the occasional pimple and don't have major scars or blemishes. Maybe just a few blackheads? At first, I was super satisfied using this product... But strangely, my face started burning And every time I applied it, I got pustular acne I have acne-calming products that usually clear things up without scarring by the next day, but this left dark red acne scars!!!! This is a first in my life.. How can acne scars be this red? After using this product for 2 months, I got acne all over my face that left red scars. Everyone I met asked what happened to my skin... To be honest, I hoped it wasn't because of this product Because as I mentioned above, it was so good in other ways! So when I got acne scars, I kept covering them with this foundation's high coverage and using it again... I got stuck in this weird cycle. Then the one or two pimples I had spread all over my face... Sigh... I messed up Anyway, I should never have encountered this from the beginning After using this, my skin became super sensitive and even cushion foundations I used to use without issues now cause blemishes So I looked up reviews and found out The ingredients aren't good, and there were others like me whose skin reacted badly There are individual differences so it's best to try it yourself But for me, it was the worst. I can't even be bothered to sell it secondhand Apply with a spatula and pat in with hands or a cushion puff
