I recommend trying out wood and powder-based fragrances for beginners. I wanted to try a wood-based scent, but the entry barrier seemed quite high. (I really love fruity and sweet scents) I received it as a gift and used it, and while the base is wood, the powder note is strong, so it's not overpowering. Plus, the design is clean and pretty, so it's even more appealing.
Cons
If you're looking for a temple-like aroma, you might be better off buying a wood-based perfume that's known for that. As an eau de toilette, the longevity is inevitably shorter.
