It's not an earthy wood smell, but genuine sandalwood. The scent evokes warm, cozy autumn leaves. If you're looking for something like Tom Ford's Oud Wood, this might be too sweet for you. It has more of a Chantal vibe. It's on the moisturizing side, so those with oily scalps might find it a bit heavy. It should be fine for dry scalps though. I always keep this shampoo on hand and use it randomly because I love the fragrance so much. The small size is a bit disappointing. I wish they had a 500ml option. I love how a single pump creates such a rich lather. The sandalwood scent is absolutely delightful. My hair feels so soft, I don't even need to use a separate conditioner! It's a shame it doesn't come in a pump bottle. I wish they'd release a larger size version too!
