I think I use this even more than the First Care Activating Serum. I apply a small amount to lock in hydration. It works well even for oily skin if you use the right amount. Hmm... There wasn't really anything bad. The pump dispenser is convenient. The only thing might be that the scent could be divisive? Personally, I didn't mind the fresh ginseng fragrance. It's great to apply this as a final step after other skincare products. It's a safe choice! - ta******Oily SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMar 16, 2025
It's moisturizing without being greasy. I have oily skin, so even a little excess oil can cause blemishes, but I can apply this generously and it feels hydrating and wonderful. There's a slight ginseng scent, and the price point is a bit on the higher side. Personally, as someone with oily skin, I use toner in the morning and emulsion in the evening. - jh********Dry SkinWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedJan 15, 2025
I received this as a gift set and was really impressed with how well it absorbs and how smoothly it applies. It felt like it was nourishing my skin from deep within. I think it would be great for both dry and combination skin types. If there's one downside, I wish it were a bit more affordable. Unfortunately, the pump on the essence bottle broke, so I couldn't use it and had to throw it away (which was a shame, even though it was a sample). The lid wouldn't come off either... I think the key is knowing your skin type accurately. I'd recommend visiting a nearby cosmetics store and getting help from a staff member to determine your skin type. When shopping, read lots of reviews and choose products with many positive reviews. - jo*****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinDec 19, 2024
Positives...? I'm not really sure. Maybe that it's glass packaging..? I don't know what to write here. I didn't notice when my skin wasn't sensitive, but now that my skin is a bit more sensitive, it doesn't help with deep dryness and feels tingling, so I can't use it. I came to write this review right away. It's good for distinguishing between products that work well or poorly for super sensitive skin, but after finishing this bottle, I probably won't repurchase as it seems like a product with poor value for money. - ey*****Oily SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsRecommendedSep 2, 2024
I tried a sample I received. Looking at the date, it seems to be the one on the right side of the back of my hand, below the sample. It appears to be the pre-renewal version, which is thicker, but the absorption is similar while being noticeably more moisturizing and nourishing without feeling heavier. The pre-renewal version had a thicker toner and thinner emulsion, while the renewed version has a thinner toner and thicker emulsion. When I say it's not heavier than the pre-renewal version, it's still heavy for oily skin. At this point, it's not a product I would spend my own money on. - me**********Dehydrated SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedApr 10, 2024
1. Reusable glass bottle 2. Smooth application I heard that Sulwhasoo accepts empty bottles at their stores. It seems they're likely reusing them, which I really appreciate. I love that they use recyclable glass bottles instead of environmentally harmful plastic, and that the company has a system to collect them. It's actually quite difficult to find products that aren't in plastic packaging, but at least when using Sulwhasoo products, I can worry a little less about that. The texture is somewhat milky, I'd say? It seems to have less hydration and less oiliness compared to Sulwhasoo's First Care Activating Serum. The application is smooth and it absorbs quickly. Estée Lauder Micro Essence - First Care Activating Serum Perfecting - Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair (evening)/Torriden Dive-In Serum? (morning) - Sulwhasoo Hydrating Cream Anyway, when I use this combination, I still feel a bit dry. If I use a sheet mask before bed, I don't feel any dryness the next day, but from the day after that, I start to feel dry again. I don't think it's the emulsion's fault (before this product, I used the same combination but with Physiogel Daily Moisture Therapy as the emulsion). I guess my skin is just extremely dry. I usually pump twice and apply it up to my neck, but I'm thinking of trying three pumps from now on. - rl**********Normal SkinRecommendedMar 25, 2024
This is hands down the best emulsion I've ever used. Even though I have oily skin, it doesn't make me feel greasy. In winter, this alone is enough to complete my hydration routine. I just use any toner and this emulsion - that's it! There's not much to complain about, which is a shame in itself. If I had to nitpick, I'd say it's a bit too rich for my liking. I guess wanting something that's both lightweight and deeply hydrating is asking for too much, isn't it? - an**********Dry SkinMar 13, 2024
It's lighter than a toner, which is great, but still has a nice substantial feel. The pump dispenser is well-designed, making it an excellent gift for those with dry skin. It might feel a bit heavy for normal or oily skin types. While it works well for dry skin, the price point is quite steep... - ss********Dry SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRecommendedFeb 5, 2024
When you think of Sulwhasoo, you might assume it's for older folks, but as a 20-something, I find it works best for me. The Essential Balancing Emulsion, in particular, has a light, emulsion-like texture that doesn't feel heavy, making it comfortable to apply. After application, my face feels smooth and you can really feel the hydration sinking in! Highly recommend! The packaging is a bit heavy and the price is on the steep side, which is a bit of a drawback. It's great to use with the entire Essential Balancing line. It's excellent for hydration, so I've been applying it to my neck to prevent wrinkles too. When you're applying it to your face, try smoothing it upwards on your neck as well - it might help with wrinkle improvement! - ap*****Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinInner DrynessRecommendedDec 4, 2023
Though marketed as an adult skincare product, it suits me well as a 20-something. I've been using this product for a long time. Not recommended for those with oily skin. While I enjoy the scent, people around me say it smells like mom's cosmetics. Great for those with dry skin.
