I received a sample of this shampoo, and it truly lives up to its name "Scalp Balance." It provides a refreshing sensation on the scalp. Without unnecessary artificial surfactants, the invigorating feeling lasts longer. Unlike some products that feel cool during washing but quickly lead to sebum buildup, this one maintains its effectiveness. It's definitely worth incorporating into your daily hair care routine. Like other Aveda products, the lather isn't as soft as mainstream brands and can leave hair feeling a bit stiff. However, considering the quality ingredients, it's a trade-off worth accepting. Just keep in mind that if you have long hair, using a treatment or conditioner afterwards is absolutely essential. Since it doesn't lather easily, I apply this product directly to itchy areas of my scalp or spots with dead skin cells, then add water to create a lather. Using this method, I can really feel the difference between areas where I've applied the product directly versus those only touched by the foam. - no*****Combination SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsRecommendedMay 25, 2025
I've been using this for about a month. The fragrance is lovely. It's effectively eliminated scalp flakiness and itching. It doesn't lather much, so sometimes I'm unsure if it's actually cleansing properly. - ci****Combination SkinRecommendedJan 9, 2025
As someone who suffered from seborrheic dermatitis for years, with scalp flaking off in large pieces, redness, itching, and burning, I've found this to be a game-changer. Steroid medications only provided temporary relief, and dermatologist-recommended shampoos merely prevented it from worsening. After using this, my condition has improved dramatically, almost disappearing completely. It has a cool, refreshing feel without being too stripping. While it may not be the most powerful for oil control, it maintains a healthy scalp condition. The fragrance is pleasantly subtle. The price is a major drawback. A liter of shampoo costs over $190, and the conditioner is around $200. The formula is quite thin, leading to wasteful use and occasional spills. It's not the strongest for oil control, often requiring multiple washes. Despite this, using just the shampoo leaves hair feeling too dry, necessitating additional products. Unlike some other shampoos I've used, this one doesn't have anti-hair loss properties, so I've noticed more shedding since switching. I really love this product. Pro tip: Look out for discounts on the official website where you can get the liter-size shampoo for about $166. Naver also offers set deals at similar prices with gratis items. The conditioner might seem ineffective at first, but by afternoon, you'll notice a difference - hair feels smoother and stronger. I recommend buying when there's a conditioner promotion. For those with seborrheic dermatitis, keep an eye out for seasonal promotions of the scalp line, which happen every few months. It's a great opportunity to try it as a gratis item when you purchase other products. - su****Combination SkinWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedNov 17, 2024
With consistent use, I feel my scalp is improving. Aveda products are something I trust and rely on. The price is on the higher side, but aside from that, I can't really think of any drawbacks. - na*********Dry SkinWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedOct 1, 2024
After pregnancy, I wanted to use a shampoo with good ingredients, so I bought Aveda. My scalp is sensitive and tends to be like a sunfish, but this definitely feels more natural in scent and doesn't irritate. As it's a scalp solution, it makes my scalp feel refreshed and seems to have reduced dead skin cells significantly. I wanted to buy a large size, but it was sold out in-store at the time, so I got the 200ml. Next time, I intend to repurchase a larger size with different functions. The price is wicked...! It doesn't have a dramatic scalp care effect. But then again, it's not a medication, so I didn't expect much :) - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessDec 18, 2023
As a reviewer who's been using Aveda for 15 years, I've tried most of their products. I've settled on alternating between Rosemary Mint and Invati. I was excited to try the Scalp Benefits shampoo after a while, but honestly, I'm not sure if it's good. It's kind of... mediocre. While it's not as refreshing as Rosemary Mint, I do like that it doesn't leave my hair stiff or tight after washing, and it's quite hydrating. Hmm... I won't be repurchasing though. It feels cool when washing, but not as much as Rosemary Mint. Unfortunately, my scalp felt itchy after rinsing. - ni*******Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedDec 17, 2023
As someone with seborrheic dermatitis, I've tried various shampoos for years before settling on this one. While it hasn't completely eliminated the condition, it has significantly reduced the itching and improved my scalp health overall. If you don't have seborrheic dermatitis, you might not notice any particular benefits. I'd recommend a different product for those without this specific scalp issue. - tn********Combination SkinRecommendedSep 17, 2023
I had been consistently using Aveda Invati-Light, but I got bored of using the same thing all the time, so I decided to switch it up. I'm really satisfied with this new choice! Here's why: - Scent: It has that signature Aveda herbal aroma (seems to be the same as their moisturizer) - Texture: A concentrated cream formula - Lather: Creates a rich, abundant foam - Feel: Effectively removes excess oil and leaves hair feeling fresh (might not be the case for those with oily hair... I have normal hair type) The price is highway robbery... It's not even formulated for hair loss prevention, yet it costs the same as Invati For best results, massage into the scalp, leave the shampoo on for at least a minute, then rinse! - hy*******Combination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJul 19, 2023
Scalp type: Oily, prone to blemishes I've been using this product since shortly after its release. I've gone through about 4 bottles from January until now. I've been using Aveda shampoos almost exclusively for about 8 years. I mainly used Rosemary Mint, Invati, and Men Pure-Formance, but this shampoo is my favorite out of all the ones I've tried so far!!!!!! With my oily scalp, it would get greasy if I skipped even one day of washing. My biggest concern was the constant appearance of pimples on my scalp. I tried the Men Pure-Formance shampoo because it was supposed to be good for pimples, but it wasn't great... Then this came out, so I gave it a try. ✅Shampoo characteristics: While it doesn't lather extremely well, it does produce a decent amount of foam. And it has a slightly cooling sensation!! But it's not as intensely cooling as the Rosemary Mint shampoo, just a mild refreshing feeling. The scent isn't too strong either, it disappears after washing. After washing, my scalp feels fresh and clean... this is the best part💜 My scalp feels fresh but not overly dry, just the right level of cleanliness. Even when I wake up after washing at night, my hair doesn't get greasy.. However, it's not the kind of shampoo that prevents greasiness for days on end. You still need to wash after a day...haha Most importantly, the pimples on my scalp have significantly reduced. I used to get 4-5, now it's down to 1-2. And not just the pimples, but I noticed less hair fall too..? Even though it's not an anti-hair loss shampoo, I felt like I was losing less hair. Anyway, I'm most satisfied with this among Aveda products. I think it might be the best Aveda shampoo for those with oily scalps like mine!!! I don't usually write reviews... But this was so good, and there were no reviews on Hwahae, so... I think I'll keep using this! The price.... It's 48,000 won for 200ml on the official website, and 200ml really doesn't last long.. The larger size is 1L, but that costs 192,000 won.. The price is a bit burdensome. Also, people with dry scalps might find it a bit drying.
