My first venture into anti-aging skincare. It's from my favorite brand, so I trust it and buy whatever I see in-store. It's always out of stock except on their official site, so I have to snag it like a bargain-hunting mom. That day, I grabbed what looked new, jostling with other beauty enthusiasts. Got home to find I'd picked up the entire 'Wake Up Beautiful' line! The packaging is so luxe and fresh-looking. I thought it was for hydration or soothing, but it's retinoid? I've heard of retinol... Seemed anti-aging, so I stashed it away. Finally opened it after my birthday, feeling I should start taking care of my skin.
Long intro, but I've never been to a dermatologist, had treatments, or used high-performance skincare. My first impression with bare skin was 'Surprisingly gentle!' The package mentions Granactive retinoid, which is less irritating than retinol. Perfect for anti-aging newbies like me.
Two days in, using serum and eye cream, I feel a slight lifting effect. Placebo or real, who knows?
No irritation or blemishes.
Even with my dry skin, one layer of serum prevents dryness and tightness.
It contains melatonin (yes, the sleep hormone). Anyone know why it's in skincare?
ConsAfter applying eye cream (I'm that woman now), my skin surface feels slightly numb. Checking the ingredients, only the eye cream contains phenoxyethanol, not the serum!
No other downsides!
TipDue to AC, just before bed, I warm a bit of shea butter cream in my palms and gently pat it on my cheeks, avoiding the T-zone. This prevents waking up from dryness.
On the second day, I boldly unpacked the dark spot cream. I'm not applying it all over, just dabbing it on specific areas. Writing this review now!
