It's great for evening out my complexion. Even though I have dry skin, it provides a nice glow that lasts for a while. It tends to settle into smile lines a bit. As time passes, these lines become more noticeable when I smile. - 52***Combination SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedNov 23, 2023
As the weather starts to get colder, I've become a cushion nomad... After comparing all sorts of reviews and making a purchase, I'm very satisfied! I highly recommend this as a winter cushion for combination dehydrated skin. The cushion I used before was the Hera Black Cushion. It was my holy grail and really hard to give up, but unlike last year, this year it kept drying out and looking patchy as time passed. I guess my skin has aged a bit... I have combination dehydrated and sensitive skin, and I often feel dryness on my cheeks! The reason I can't use Hera now is that it looks very patchy on my cheeks. My cheeks tend to be warm and I have a bit of redness. What I wanted in a cushion before buying: 1. Shade 13-15 with a neutral tone 2. Shouldn't look dry and patchy. But not so dewy that it doesn't cover well or comes off easily. (I don't touch up much) Something between semi-glow and semi-matte 3. Shouldn't cause blemishes First, the color!!! For reference, I used to use Hera shade 13. Actually, the initial tone isn't a perfect match, but as it oxidizes and adheres to my skin, the color becomes a great match, so I rarely try lighter shades. I have light skin but with yellow undertones, so pink-based foundations don't suit me well! Especially my neck is yellow, but overall I have redness, so if I use a pink-based foundation, my face and neck look completely different. For me, Hera had a slightly pink tone at first, but as it settled, it became more yellow, so I was very satisfied with the color. But when I first applied the Moonshot, it also had a pink tone, which really surprised me... I thought it might be 15C, but it was a soft, bright pink, so my first impression wasn't bad! When I compared it right away, it turned out to be very similar to Hera!!! Even though it's shade 15, it didn't feel darker than Hera 13! If anything, it feels a bit more pink! But it's a bright, soft pink! In terms of moisture, Moonshot applies much more moisturizing! But the finish is indeed semi-matte. If you look closely, you can see it's slightly powdery. Of course, when you look at the overall effect, it has a subtle glow, so it doesn't look very dry, which I'm satisfied with. Personally, I think it might break down quickly in summer, so I probably won't use it then. It's perfect for combination dehydrated skin during seasonal changes or winter... Or maybe dry skin types who like a powdery makeup look might like it, but I think it might still be a bit dry for them...!!! Actually, in summer, dry skin types might prefer this cushion!!! The coverage, longevity, and adherence are good! But compared to Hera, Hera is definitely better, so people who need to wear masks might find it a bit disappointing.... There is some transfer! It's not a perfect adherent type!! Maybe because the moisture is maintained, after some time, if you rub it with your finger, it does come off a bit. But it's not like it all comes off like a glow cushion, some base remains, but coming from using Hera, it's just a tiny bit disappointing...? Still, for winter, I'm satisfied with this level. You do need to use concealer. I used concealer even with Hera... For me, it's more important that the foundation stays on my face over time rather than covering blemishes... What I hate most is when my face gets oily and the makeup breaks down and comes off, leaving me bare-faced. But this one stays on pretty well!!!! So I'm very, very satisfied with this aspect. The thickness when applying seems similar! You can apply Hera thinly too..!! It shines when applied thinly... But Moonshot feels like it goes on a bit thinner, probably because it's more moisturizing! If you think about applying the same amount of product without scooping it out, just putting it on your face, Moonshot goes on thinner. It doesn't go on thick! It's not difficult to apply! And there's a subtle cooling effect with Moonshot too!! Which feels great for someone with redness! The puff with Hera releases product a bit better, while the Moonshot puff absorbs more of the product... This isn't really a problem with application, but it feels like you might use up the cushion faster, which is already quick to use up. It feels a bit wasteful... I didn't find it particularly inconvenient for touch-ups! I'm not very sensitive about puffs. But I do worry that as you use it more and more product builds up in the puff, the application might change. We'll have to see when I use it up. I attached photos for color comparison. Looking at just the cushions, Moonshot looks a bit brighter, but I think that's because the base color has a bright pink tone. Moonshot has more of an apricot tone!!!! Hera seems to oxidize a bit more! It feels like it becomes more yellow-based as it adheres. It's not so much darkening as the color changing..? Actually, Hera's color is perfect for my skin. Moonshot also becomes a bit more yellow-based as it adheres, but if you look at the used wet wipe, Moonshot is a bit brighter!! When I remove my makeup, the cotton pad color is brighter with Moonshot. It's a very bright apricot color, so the color is pretty. But Hera has such good coverage and the color stays on well until the end. They each have their pros and cons. On the face, they both look equally bright. Hera feels slightly more yellow..? Hera seems to be a bit more ivory-toned! I'm a big fan of Hera Black Cushion... So I ended up comparing it to Hera, but even though there are more options for shade 13 cushions these days, I haven't found many that I really like. But this one is just the right amount of moisturizing semi-matte, doesn't cause skin blemishes, and is very comfortable to use!!!! It was a very satisfying purchase. There aren't many reviews yet, so I wrote in detail to help ease your concerns a bit. Honestly, I don't think you'll find this level of quality at this price point...!!!!!! The puff really absorbs the product well! The amount is a bit less? Hera has 15 grams while Moonshot has 12 grams... As a greedy person, I find that a bit disappointing. + Additional cons The puff's application definitely changed as I used it more. When I first used it, patting it on was fine, but now I need to swipe it on initially to get a thin, pore-covering, adherent application. And what's really annoying is how easily it attracts dust - it attracts dust way too well. Is this why the Hera Black Cushion puff is black? Because the puff is visible, you can really see the dust that sticks to it.... But it seems to just keep attracting dust - even if you dust it off, it gets dusty again... I'm thinking of trying a different puff... sigh. For those with oily T-zones that produce a lot of oil, I strongly recommend using powder! Apply it by gently sweeping as if filling in your pores, then add another layer on top for better coverage.
