The generous amount at an affordable price makes it perfect for applying liberally all over. The ingredients are gentle too! Now I'm curious to try Hwahae's emulsion as well.
ConsIt dries quickly before it fully absorbs. I suppose that's because it's a watery toner.

Not bad at all!
ConsIt dries out pretty quickly though. As the name suggests, it's just for daily use. You get what you pay for in terms of value.

ConsIt feels somewhat stiff? It does dry down, maybe because of the acidity?

As someone who's not an expert in cosmetics, I'll share my personal experience: 1. Gentle With my redness-prone skin and guaranteed blemishes during my period, I've struggled to find products that work well for me. I used to think a product was perfect if it didn't cause any blemishes. Thankfully, this toner hasn't caused any issues, which suggests it's gentle and suitable for my super sensitive skin. 2. Fragrance-free While I might not have the most sensitive nose, I appreciate that this product doesn't seem to have any artificial fragrances. It's a big plus! 3. Absorbs well The formula has a water-like consistency, which allows it to absorb quickly into the skin. I've been using it as an exfoliating toner with a cotton pad. Compared to my previous soothing toner that took a while to absorb after exfoliation, this one sinks in effortlessly. Just gently pat it in, and it absorbs without any stickiness.
ConsInterestingly, the quick absorption I mentioned as a pro can also be a con! While it's great for summer or normal conditions, it might be a bit drying for winter use without an essence or serum. It absorbs so well that it almost feels like it dries up quickly, so you'll definitely want to follow up with a serum right away to lock in that hydration. I'll need to use it a bit longer to notice any other potential drawbacks!
TipThe water-like consistency makes me want to try it as a mist too. I'm planning to order an empty spray bottle for this purpose! Also, the volume and texture are perfect for quick and easy toner mask treatments. You can easily soak multiple cotton pads for a hydrating boost!

The texture is very watery, almost like purified water. If you really try to smell it, there's a slight coconut scent. I've never used skincare with PHA before, but this toner seems to be really beneficial for my skin that's prone to dead skin cell buildup. It smoothly removes dead skin cells and appears to minimize those tiny bumps. It also seems to help calm the skin before and after extracting blemishes.
ConsThe watery texture means you need to use quite a bit to feel like you've applied enough, which is a bit disappointing. You need to saturate the cotton pad thoroughly, and when I tried using it as a 1-minute mask, it dried quickly. Rubbing the dried cotton pad on my skin caused some irritation, which doesn't happen with other toners.
TipI soak a round cotton pad and use it like a mask on areas with tiny bumps or a lot of dead skin cells, but only for about a minute to avoid any issues. To finish, I pat more toner onto my face for that extra boost of hydration.

This is my review after using the product from January 4th to 15th. It doesn't feel runny at all. I tried to apply the leftover amount on my neck after using a cotton pad, but it had already been completely absorbed into my hands by then. It doesn't feel greasy at all. Instead, after applying, there's a slight sticky, squeaky clean feeling on your hands for about 2 minutes, but it quickly becomes soft and powdery. My previous toner was also gentle, but it sometimes stung and I had to rewash my face occasionally. This one, however, is on another level of gentleness, so there's no worry about that. And when I apply makeup, it absolutely does not pill. It smells like baby wipes. Not exactly appealing, but not off-putting either. The amount is generous, but I've been using it liberally and already only have 1/3 left!
ConsThe only downside might be that it dries too quickly? It's fine if you soak a cotton pad and leave it on, but when applying directly with your hands, it dries so fast that it can be a bit surprising. I recommend using it with a cotton pad!

I had rough, uneven skin with severe dead skin cells, but after using this product for about 2 weeks, I could really feel my skin texture improving (I'm not exaggerating!). Incredible hydration when used right after cleansing! I used to use To*den products for my toner step, but they just sat on my skin like water and didn't absorb well... My deep dryness wasn't addressed either... So I was a toner nomad until I encountered this product through the Hwahae Testers. Why didn't I know about this product sooner? It's truly legendary. *For those struggling with deep dryness and needing skin texture improvement, if you're wondering what to use, I strongly recommend giving this a try. It was that good. High absorption rate - easily absorbs even when casually patted onto the face. When I used To*den toner, I had to put it in a spray bottle. But while using the Hwahae Essential Toner for 2 weeks as part of the Hwahae Testers, I just roughly patted it on with my hands and it absorbed so well. It was so convenient and really, really good. No irritation even for sensitive skin! Even when my skin was breaking out, I was worried this might irritate my blemishes and make them worse, but there was none of that! In fact, it seemed to help calm my blemishes, probably because it's such a gentle toner. Overall review: I'm not just saying this because I'm part of the Hwahae Testers, but I genuinely recommend this product because it's so good. I used to only use Tory* toner, but I think I'll settle on this one even after finishing the product I received as a tester. Before using this, my cushion foundation would always look patchy... my skin was like a drought. But after using this, it doesn't look patchy anymore... (I'm even using a matte summer cushion in winter because I don't want to switch to my Laneige mint winter glow cushion). It's that good, so if you're wondering which toner to use, I highly, highly recommend giving this a try. I really, really recommend it! Please believe me! This product would be great for: 1. Toner nomads 2. Those struggling with deep dryness 3. Those whose foundation looks patchy in winter due to dead skin cells! = You must try it! I highly, highly recommend it. I'm settling on this one!
ConsThere wasn't a single thing I disliked while using this product... But since I'm part of the Hwahae Testers, I'll compare it to the toner I used before:) One of the toners I used before was the Tory* toner. Comparing them: Tory* toner: 100% water-like feeling, truly just like water without any heaviness. It felt like just applying water to your skin with your hands. (The moisture would evaporate as it dried, so I had to quickly lock in the hydration with other products. No effect on deep dryness.) Hwahae Essential Toner: 90% hydration, with about 10% feeling like it's locking in the moisture so it doesn't evaporate! (Addresses deep dryness)
TipI used it in this order: Beplain Greentea Cleansing Foam - Hwahae Toner - Beplain Cica Ampoule - Cell Fusion C Calming Down Cream! Since it's winter, rather than just applying the toner once, I layered it twice, patting it in with my hands before moving on to the next step!!! For those with severe deep dryness, I highly recommend applying two layers. Except for dry seasons like winter, I think one application would work well for daily use in summer and spring :)
