As a foundation fanatic, I fired up Hwahae to recommend a cushion... Why? Because this little gem is something special... I'll give you a concise rundown of its strengths, proving my devotion with a grimy puff from actual use and a stash of refills. Oh, and the most crucial part - the shade! This shade is a light ivory with very little yellow undertone! If you use shade 21 but hate excessive yellowness, this is for you! 1. Skin Finish This is mind-blowing. The Givenchy cushion is the epitome of 'semi-matte'. No other description needed. It's just perfectly semi-matte. Not too much, not too little. It finishes with just the right amount of powder-like softness. Does that mean it dries out your skin? Not at all. It's 'semi', remember? There's zero dryness. In fact, your skin feels incredibly comfortable after application. It's the true definition of semi-matte done right. When applied, it gives a flawless, velvety finish. Truly perfection! 2. Longevity The staying power is incredible. How can it last so long without being drying? I have no idea how they've done it, but there's absolutely no darkening. I've never experienced darkening while using this. And fading? To be honest, I'm not sure. It does come off when eating, wiping your mouth, or blowing your nose. But this stuff really lasts. It's the top performer among all the cushions I've used. 3. Adherence It's phenomenal... When you apply it, it instantly melds with your skin. You barely need to pat it in before it becomes one with your complexion. Instead of buying other cushions and constantly patting, I'd rather spend that money on Givenchy. Honestly, I've tried expensive cushions before, but this is the first time I've been compelled to write a review. I wouldn't recommend it for very dry skin types, as it is semi-matte after all! But if you're used to semi-matte finishes and are looking for the three advantages mentioned above? I wholeheartedly recommend it. 1. The Cushion Puff Can you believe the built-in puff is heart-shaped? Shape aside, why is it so thin? It soaks up all the foundation. I can't fathom why they'd create such an amazing product and pair it with this subpar applicator. I switched mine out pretty quickly. 2. The Formula You might be wondering why I'm mentioning the formula as a con after all that praise, but hear me out. While everything else is perfect, it can be tricky to pick up the product. Even after changing the puff, it seems like the formula settles at the bottom or is just difficult to get out of the cushion. You really have to press hard sometimes to get enough product. It's often hard to tell if you've used it all up or not. And this isn't exactly cheap! 3. Nose Clogging Calling all those with large pores on their nose... Despite using that famous primer that starts with 'Bona', this semi-matte formula tends to settle into the pores around my nose. Just a heads up... Despite these three drawbacks, the advantages are so incredible that I still give it 5 stars. If you're a foundation nomad willing to invest in a department store brand, I strongly recommend Givenchy! The original text uses several informal expressions and internet slang that I've adapted to maintain the friendly, conversational tone while making it more accessible to English speakers. I've also expanded on some points to provide more context and clarity where needed. - sh*******Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedNov 9, 2024
As someone with allergic contact dermatitis and acne-prone skin with pustules and whiteheads, I was initially skeptical about the ingredients. I bought just the refill to test it out, but ended up purchasing the full product. Despite containing stearic acid, dimethicone, and PEG, surprisingly, it didn't cause any itching, tingling, or blemishes. The formula is easy to apply thinly and covers pores well, whether you use a spatula or the puff. For a cushion, it has amazing adherence like a foundation. It doesn't transfer much or break apart. The heart-shaped puff fits perfectly under the eyes and on the butterfly zone, while the pointed end is great for applying around the nose. Over time, even on oily areas like the nose tip or forehead, the base seems to fade rather than get messy. There's no clumping around textured areas, no breakdown, and no clogged pores. Though it's not an ultra-dewy formula, it layers smoothly without patchiness or visible edges, even with quick touch-ups. It looked decent even after 17 hours, at dawn. I hate when base makeup settles into pores leaving white spots, but this doesn't do that at all. It adhered well to my butterfly zone and forehead without lifting (except on extremely flaky days). Even my chin and between brows, areas prone to whiteheads, maintained coverage without emphasizing sebum. Smile lines are my own wrinkle issue, unavoidable with any base, but this cushion minimized them better than others I've tried. Blending with the morning's puff often helps. Unlike the brand's Teint Couture, which has a powder-in-water texture that sets instantly like ink, this product is easier to blend for those of us with lots of pores and dead skin cells. The N95 shade is a beige tone that effectively neutralizes redness from rosacea and acne scars, matching my natural skin tone well. It's slightly yellow-based, but not as intensely as NARS' yellow-based shades. As someone with a 21.5-22 shade range and uneven skin tone, I found this color satisfying for coverage. While it might be slightly less brightening, it looks natural and doesn't create a floating effect with the neck. A light-colored powder finish adds just the right amount of radiance. It doesn't feel thick or like 'obvious makeup', yet provides medium to medium-high coverage, making it suitable to use without concealer. The finish is somewhere between semi-matte and semi-glow. It's perfect for my combination dehydrated skin, as overly matte products emphasize texture, while too glowy ones are terrible for oily areas. It's difficult to purchase the case separately. The design might be polarizing, though it grows on you over time. Some might experience deep dryness. It's best suited for oily and combination dehydrated skin types looking for a subtle inner glow. Occasionally, when my skin is in poor condition, it might cause a couple of small blemishes. The case and refill are compatible with Givenchy Teint Couture cushion. Interestingly, the pore coverage and overall skin appearance were better maintained when used alone, without primer or fixer.
