Since the sunscreen was so good, I had high expectations when trying their Cica Calming Serum. As someone with atopic and extremely dry skin, my complexion tends to become a mess during seasonal changes. I didn't want to use a heavy cream like in winter, but I still needed hydration. After toner, this serum provides just enough moisture to keep my skin feeling fresh in the morning. The best things about the Tocobo Cica Calming Serum were its texture and how well it absorbs. It has a water-like consistency with no stickiness at all. Even when I accidentally over-applied it the first time, it didn't leave my skin feeling greasy and absorbed quickly. It works great not just on the face, but also on the neck and décolletage, absorbing incredibly fast. The application is smooth as well. When I touched my face in the morning, I was amazed at how well it had absorbed - my skin wasn't sticky like it usually is, but felt soft and smooth. The attached photo shows my morning skin - I was surprised by the glow and smoothness, so I had to take a picture. For my dry skin, it was even possible to just rinse with water in the morning. There's no skin irritation at all, so it's safe to use around the sensitive eye area without any stinging. It's perfect for sensitive skin during tricky seasons. I also appreciated the subtle, slightly minty scent without any overwhelming fragrance. The packaging is clean and pretty, making it a nice addition to my vanity. I love that it's not only effective but also looks good.
ConsWhile it's perfect for use right now, it might not provide enough moisture for dry skin in the dead of winter due to its low oil content. The clean feel makes it more suitable for oily combination skin types or for use in the height of summer.
TipMy makeup cushion isn't the type you pat on, but one you blend by rubbing. So in the morning, I need to layer my toner and emulsion carefully to prevent pilling. I usually avoid slow-absorbing serums or creams in the morning, but since this product has almost no oiliness, I tried using it instead of my usual emulsion which had just run out. It absorbs so well that there's absolutely no pilling with my cushion foundation. I'm impressed that this clean-feeling serum works so well for morning use too.

I sometimes get blemishes on my face that tend to linger longer than I'd like, which can be frustrating. Other tea tree products I've tried focused mainly on blemish control but left my skin feeling dry, requiring me to apply a separate hydrating serum. What I love about this product is that it's a one-step solution. Let's be honest, some products claim to do it all but fall short in multiple areas. This one, however, delivers on its promises. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to balance hydration and blemish management in one go!
ConsI didn't notice any significant drawbacks. Those with extremely dry skin might find it a bit lacking in moisture, but that's about it. It seems to be a product without much oiliness.
TipFor best results, I suggest using a tea tree toner, followed by this serum, and finishing with a slightly richer cream. This routine helps calm blemishes overnight and leaves your skin feeling incredibly smooth by morning.

It's lightweight and great for layering in both summer and winter. I loved that it's non-irritating and the scent is practically undetectable. Recently, my skin has been dry and I noticed a few blemishes popping up. So for three nights, I applied 3-4 layers after toner before bed, and the blemishes visibly reduced! I'm a big fan of Tobocos sunscreen and powder cleanser, and this product from the trusted Toboco brand is just as good!
ConsI wouldn't recommend this for those with very dry skin in autumn and winter. It seems to focus more on hydration and soothing rather than providing rich moisture.
TipWhen I have blemishes, I apply about three layers of this product before bed, letting it absorb completely. It seems to help calm my skin.

What I loved: The essence has a light, water-like consistency! It provides a deep sense of hydration. The best part is how quickly it absorbs and how moisturizing it is. I think it would be perfect for summer use - it leaves the skin feeling fresh without any stickiness, ideal for when your skin feels hot and bothered. I plan to add more about its soothing effects after using it consistently for about a month. Even without considering that, the hydrating properties make it seem great for combination dehydrated skin! 2. Packaging and extras: I love that the transparent bottle allows you to easily check how much product is left! The dropper is hygienic, which I appreciate. The design, with its transparent green color, intuitively conveys the soothing and cica effects, which I find appealing. While others described the scent as aquatic, to me it's more like a green herb or grass scent, which I find quite pleasant. I'm a big fan of the fragrance too.
ConsThe downside is that the dropper design is quite standard, which might make it difficult to use up the last bits of the product when it's running low. Also, since it's so focused on hydration, I feel it might not be suitable for winter use when you need more oil-based moisture.
TipThis is a great cica soothing product for summer use. I'd recommend it to those who enjoy herbal or grassy scents.

As someone whose skin tends to break out in small bumps immediately after applying sticky or oily serums, I'm quite particular about serums and creams (though less so with toners). However, Tocobo is perfect for those with sensitive, oily skin. It's incredibly gentle, and while it feels a bit heavy at first, if you slowly massage it in, it absorbs beautifully into the skin without leaving any sticky residue. Plus, it has no typical cosmetic scent and seems to have a calming effect - I even noticed some redness and blemishes settling down! With its hygienic dropper, I think it'll be great to use from summer through early fall.
ConsThose with extremely dry skin might find it too light, and if you're looking for a product with an intense hydrating effect or a good balance of oil and moisture, you might need to supplement with a richer cream. As it's a gentle product, it's more suitable for giving your skin a break rather than expecting dramatic improvements. Think of it as a way to let your skin rest.
TipFrom early fall, I use an exfoliating toner, then a hydrating mask instead of serum, followed by the Tocobo serum. This routine makes it suitable for combination dehydrated skin types to use through autumn. On days when you have blemishes or small bumps, try a skincare routine focused on gentle products plus Tocobo to aim for a calming effect - you'll notice those sudden breakouts settling down quickly!

I have combination dehydrated, sensitive, and blemish-prone skin! Product: Tocobo / Cica Calming Serum - Usage period: September 11th to 15th - Impression: Feels similar to another brand's T*den hydrating serum! Runny texture - Scent: The fragrance is really not my cup of tea... It smells too much like cosmetics. - Does it provide deep hydration? Well, it's a bit disappointing... I have combination dehydrated skin with severe deep dryness, but I can't say it provides much deep hydration. It feels a bit oily but still leaves my skin feeling tight. To sum it up, it feels like 60% oil and 40% hydration...
Cons1. Fragrance The scent is really not pleasant. It smells like old-fashioned cosmetics, which made it difficult to use at first... I was worried it might cause a skin reaction. 2. Oily feel While it claims to provide hydration, it feels more oily than moisturizing. From the fourth day of use, I started developing small bumps on my skin. As a result, I had to stop using it...

It's perfect for summer use without feeling heavy on the skin. Hydration: While it may not provide intense moisture due to its thin consistency, it definitely improved my deep dryness! Scent: It's not unscented, but has a mild fragrance. Personally, I love the slightly herbal scent - it makes application a pleasant experience! Calming effect: It definitely has a soothing effect! The cooling sensation is amazing, especially during these hot days when skin feels heated. After using it for a week, I experienced no blemishes or irritation whatsoever, and my deep dryness improved significantly!
ConsBeing a lightweight product, it might feel a bit lacking in hydration and richness during winter. But it's perfect for summer! Plus, you'll be applying moisturizer anyway!

It absorbs instantly into the skin, allowing you to apply your next skincare product without any pilling! ✔️ Scent It has a subtle aloe and cucumber-like fragrance. It's definitely not an off-putting scent at all! ✔️ Packaging I appreciated the hygienic dropper bottle design. ✔️ Hydration This product immediately replenishes moisture when applied to the skin. It's great for a light hydration boost as it leaves no residue on the skin after application.
Cons✔️ As I have combination dehydrated skin that lacks a lot of moisture, I found it a bit drying when used alone. Personally, I'd recommend following up with a serum and finishing with a slightly richer cream!
Tip✔️ If you enjoy doing modeling masks at home, try mixing this in for an extra soothing effect! ✔️ I'd recommend this to those with oily or combination dehydrated skin looking for a lightweight hydrating serum for summer use!
