There's so much product that you can really slather it on without worrying about running out. However, those clumps can be a bit tricky to work with. When I try to use it for a skin pack by soaking a cotton pad, the clumps just sit on top instead of absorbing. It's the same story when applying it to my face - it doesn't absorb well. As a result, if you layer other skincare products on top, everything just pills up. Because of the pilling issue, I wouldn't recommend using this before applying makeup.
