Adherence - Applying too much at once can make it thick and less adherent. For best results, layer it thinly multiple times. This technique makes it stick perfectly and greatly improves longevity. Shade - I used 17N, and it's not yellow-based, which makes my skin look radiant. It seems to be just right for a 17 shade, neither too light nor too dark.
