I bought it purely because I fell in love with the fragrance. It's been reformulated to be mildly acidic, which should be great for dry skin types and even better for those with oily skin. I use it in a three-step cleansing routine: first, removing makeup with the oil, then following up with a second cleanser, and finally using a mild acidic cleanser. To be honest, perhaps because it's an oil-based product with a low pH, it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth. However, for my skin that needs thorough cleansing to remove oil, the cleansing effectiveness felt a bit lacking. I think even a mildly acidic cleanser would work well. I wish they'd bring back the original formula or create a new product. The price is relatively reasonable if you buy it during a sale. For me, it works better as a body cleanser. When I use it with oil and then rinse off with body wash, my skin feels refreshingly clean.
