However, inorganic sunscreens inevitably have their drawbacks over time. At that point, I was already using Mediheal's Madecassoside Scar Repair Serum with good results, so I applied to be a Hwahae Tester for this product! ➕Texture/Application It definitely had a thinner and more moisturizing texture compared to regular sunscreens. However, it wasn't so watery that it would drip (it doesn't run even when tilted on the back of your hand). When applied, it spread smoothly and lightly, similar to a runny toner. It was perfect for applying without any burden as the last step of skincare! It wasn't heavy and didn't pill when applying makeup base over it, making it great for daily use. However, right after application, it felt oilier than expected, so those who dislike a slippery feeling should take note. I thought it might be a bit too shiny for those with oily skin. One unique aspect was that when spreading it, the oil-based sunscreen ingredients like ethylhexyl triazone seemed to separate from the hydrating, glycol-like water-based layer. It felt like sunscreen ingredients mixed into a toner. ➕Absorption It absorbs quite quickly. A few pats with your hands, and it's mostly absorbed. There was little stickiness after absorption. The absorption is similar to that of a runny toner. However, as mentioned earlier, there's a slight oily feeling left after absorption, giving a subtle glow. This doesn't show well in photos, but as I have dry skin, I liked how this glow made my skin look healthier. Those with oily skin might want to test it directly. ➕Hydration It was one of the most moisturizing sunscreens I've used! Even more hydrating than the birch moisture sunscreen. After application, I didn't feel any dryness or skin tightness. I think even those who usually dislike the typical sunscreen texture (oiliness, dryness after applying inorganic sunscreens, white cast, etc.) could use this well. ➕White Cast As it's an organic sunscreen, there wasn't really any white cast. Just a very slight brightening effect, about 0.005 level? It returns to your original skin tone after a while. Don't expect a significant tone-up effect. ➕Effectiveness One of this product's features is reducing sun damage. I usually have a mild sun allergy, but using this product seemed to slightly reduce the redness caused by sun exposure. It's not very noticeable to the naked eye, but I think I'd need to use it for a longer period to be sure about this effect. ➕Price/Value The original price is 22,000 won for 50g, which seems average for the market. However, because the texture is quite thin, I found myself using more product. I wish they'd increase the volume a bit. ➕Packaging The compact tube container was great for portability. The applicator was unique, perhaps to give a serum-like feel. As you can see in the photo, it has a dropper-like opening, which made it easy to control the amount. Being transparent, it was easy to gauge how much to squeeze out and how much pressure to apply. I was also satisfied with the eco-friendly paper packaging. ➕Easy Washing On days when I only applied sunscreen without makeup, it was honestly a hassle to do a double cleanse. Since sunscreen is oil-based, it's difficult to remove with just a cleansing foam and often remains on the skin, which was inconvenient. However, this product was easy to remove even with just a cleansing foam or cleansing milk. With a low pH cleansing foam, I needed to wash twice, while an alkaline cleansing foam removed it more easily. Of course, what remains in the skin texture can only be measured with a device, but to the naked eye, it seemed to cleanse well without any major issues!
Cons➖Longevity It seems to wear off slightly when you sweat. It doesn't seem to wash off easily with water alone. However, I usually apply base makeup over sunscreen and don't sweat much, so it wasn't really an issue for my daily routine. ➖Ingredients/Potential for Blemishes While using this product, I didn't experience any blemishes or redness, but there was a slight stinging or itching sensation when applying. It felt a bit tingly? This bothered me, so I think I need to use it for a longer period before deciding whether to purchase it. ➖Scent It has a rather strong fresh grass-like scent? Or the typical organic sunscreen smell? As someone who prefers unscented products, I really dislike this. The scent does fade significantly after application, but it's unpleasant when you first squeeze it out. The fragrance might be polarizing.

I usually avoid sunscreens because they feel heavy and make my makeup look cakey, but this sun serum is moisturizing and applies like an emulsion. Even when I apply a generous amount, my skin doesn't feel suffocated. It also doesn't interfere with makeup application. The narrow dispenser makes it easy to control the amount. Since it contains madecassoside, which is said to be good for blemish marks, I'll make sure to use it consistently.
ConsIt has a strong herbal scent that might not be for everyone. When my skin is sensitive, it can cause a tingling sensation.

People who dislike thick creams will probably enjoy this. As for the user experience, it seems to cause less deep dryness than organic UV sunscreens, and it doesn't pill when applying makeup afterwards - that's a big plus! I also appreciate that it's not sticky at all. The scent isn't overpowering either, which is nice. Another great point is that it rinses off completely when using a foam cleanser, leaving no residue.
ConsFirst off, there was a slight tingling sensation after application. To be honest, if you have oily skin, sunscreens with high oil content tend to give that super dewy, glassy skin effect... and it's a bit much. Also, I noticed my skin kept feeling warm after applying it. I wouldn't recommend this for blemish-prone skin as it might cause irritation. These drawbacks aren't offset by any particularly redeeming qualities... I originally wanted to use it longer, but my skin was too irritated, so I only used it for about a week.
TipControlling the amount you use isn't as easy as you might think. You really need to mentally shout 'Just a little!' while applying it.

I got the chance to try this product for the first time as part of The Hwahae Testers. We all know how important sunscreen is, but it can be a hassle to apply daily. Despite all the great sunscreens out there, I used to avoid them because I hated the greasy feeling on my face, the stickiness, and how they would pill under makeup. But this product was a game-changer for me! It feels like applying a hydrating serum rather than a sunscreen. I expected it to become oily or sticky later, but it didn't at all. If anything, it felt a bit drying after a while. I highly recommend this product to anyone who's been avoiding sunscreen due to how it feels. My boyfriend tried it too and loved how fresh it felt compared to other sunscreens! The scent is quite strong though, which made me a bit nervous as I have sensitive skin. Fortunately, I had no skin issues, but it can sting a bit if your skin is feeling sensitive.
ConsThe scent is quite strong, and it may sting a bit if applied when your skin is feeling sensitive.
TipWhen applied before makeup, it really creates a perfect canvas for your complexion.

I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it felt on my skin. With mineral sunscreens, I sometimes experience pilling and dryness, but this chemical sunscreen applied lightly while still providing hydration. It moisturizes without feeling sticky and leaves a soft finish, so it doesn't cause pilling when applied before makeup. The scent might be a matter of personal preference, but I think it's fairly mainstream and shouldn't bother most people. To me, it smells similar to Mediheal's Madecassoside mask. I'm not usually a fan of strong fragrances in cosmetics, but this one isn't overpowering and actually smells quite nice! Being a chemical sunscreen, there's no white cast, and while it doesn't provide a tone-up effect, I find myself reaching for it often before applying my makeup base. If you're looking for a sunscreen that's hydrating, absorbs well, and leaves a soft finish to use before your base makeup, I highly recommend this!
ConsThe one downside I experienced was that, possibly because my skin is currently super sensitive, I felt a slight tingling sensation and noticed some redness in certain areas after application. It's not extremely irritating, and the sensation does fade after a while, but it seems to cause some irritation.

Thanks to madecassoside, it provides an instant cooling effect that lasts for a while, making it perfect for summer. To be honest, I can't really speak to its blemish-fighting properties as I haven't used it long enough... Unlike typical organic sunscreens that feel moisturizing or smooth, this product doesn't leave a heavy film, so even I, who's prone to blemishes, can use it without worry. The texture is super thin, and both spreadability and absorption are TOP-notch! Fortunately, even when reapplied, it doesn't feel thick or suffocating.
ConsIt might melt away with sweat when the weather gets extremely hot. Also, there's a slight tingling sensation when applied to irritated skin.
TipReapply multiple times. Could potentially replace moisturizer in summer.

Reviews by The Hwahae Testers undergo the same strict verification process as regular reviews, and if they don't meet our standards, revisions will be requested.ProsI was lucky enough to be selected as one of The Hwahae Testers, so here's my review! ● Texture - True to its name as a hydrating sun serum, it feels just like a super hydrating serum! It absorbs so well, and like a serum, it's not heavy at all. Even when layered over other skincare products, it feels like you're just adding another layer of moisturizer. ● Consistency - It really feels like applying a hydrating serum. It's not watery, but not thick either! It goes on smoothly with no white cast at all! ● Scent - I think it smells similar to Mediheal's Madecassoside Serum? It seems to have the same scent as the serum I used before. (I'm not using them together now, so I can't be 100% sure) It's not strong, but there's a subtle scent that's less floral or fragrant and more like herbs. It's kind of a fresh, green scent. Personally, I don't find it bothersome at all! ● Recommended Skin Type - I have combination dehydrated skin, and during this changing season, when I only use hydrating products as a base, it feels a bit dry! Now that I'm in my late 30s, I've found that using products with a bit of oil in my skincare routine keeps my skin from feeling dry and uncomfortable. So it's fine if I apply it after a good skincare routine, but if I just use a hydrating moisturizer and then this sun serum, it starts to feel dry after a while. But summer is coming soon, so it should be perfect for summer! ● Packaging - The nozzle is designed to dispense small amounts precisely, making it easy to control how much you use! ● Cleansing - It's great that it comes off easily with just the first cleanse!
ConsThe first few times I used it, I felt a very slight tingling sensation, but it went away after a few minutes
TipIt's not really a tip, but since it's good to apply sunscreen generously and in multiple layers, I'm happy that this one doesn't pill even when applied that way

I've used this product diligently for over 7 days before writing this review. My skin type is combination dehydrated, leaning towards oily. Let me start by describing how it applies: It feels incredibly hydrating and lightweight when applied. While there are many sunscreens with thin textures that go on lightly these days, this sun serum definitely feels even lighter, which I absolutely love! It's the most lightweight sun serum I've ever used. The best part? No white cast! There's no chalky appearance or unnatural whitening effect, which is so satisfying. Texture: The texture is very fluid, making it easy to apply. We all know how frustrating it can be when your skincare pills after applying sunscreen in the morning. But this sun serum's light texture prevents that issue entirely. Cooling effect: I'm not sure if it's just me, but I noticed a pleasant cooling effect when applying. As someone who tends to have warm skin, I really appreciated this sensation. Fresh finish: Most lightweight sunscreens or sun serums I've tried either finish sticky or slippery, which can be uncomfortable. This one is different! Whether it absorbs quickly or has reduced oil content, the finish is noticeably better than other brands. Overall: I'm truly satisfied with this product. Usually, I've had to choose between sunscreens that apply lightly but finish sticky, or those that finish powdery but apply thickly. This works great as part of my morning skincare routine, and it even contains madecassoside, which is a bonus! The biggest advantage is how it doesn't feel heavy on the skin and finishes without any stickiness. Since it's good for preventing skin aging, I'm planning to gift it to my mom too! I'll definitely be recommending this to my friends who are always on the hunt for the perfect sunscreen.
ConsThe product itself is so good that there aren't any major drawbacks, but I'll list a few minor issues that bothered me: There was a slight irritation. My skin felt a bit tingly after application. The lasting power isn't great, as my skin felt dry after a while. I think it might be better suited for summer use, so I plan to keep using it then! Personally, I wasn't a fan of the scent. Those sensitive to fragrances might want to keep this in mind!
TipIt doesn't provide any brightening effect at all, so it's best used purely for sun protection. I found that rather than using it alone, applying it before makeup not only helps my makeup go on better but also improves my overall skin appearance.

It's not entirely unpleasant, but as I'm sensitive to scents, it does bother me a bit! Texture: True to its name 'Hydrating Sun Serum', it feels incredibly moisturizing, like applying a hydrating cream! The texture is thin but not runny, making it easy to apply. It spreads on so smoothly and feels wonderfully hydrating! I think it would be great for those with dry skin, and even suitable for combination dehydrated skin types. Application: As a hydrating sun serum, it's pleasantly easy to use! It felt so moisturizing that I wondered if it could really provide sun protection. I loved that it wasn't sticky at all! It absorbs without any stickiness, so I think it would work well for all skin types. The product claims to improve temporary dark spots caused by increased melanin due to sun exposure. I've used it for over a week, but I can't say I've noticed any significant improvements in that regard, unfortunately.
ConsWhile I didn't experience any blemishes after use, I did feel a slight burning sensation and a subtle tingling on my face! If you have super sensitive skin, I recommend doing a patch test before purchasing.
