As a fan of soothing creams, I had high expectations for the Real Barrier cream, which I've been using regularly. Here's my review after two weeks: This product stands out from typical soothing creams that can feel too oily or heavy, making them unsuitable for pre-makeup application. When applied before makeup for hydration, it absorbs quickly, allowing your makeup to adhere smoothly without pilling or looking cakey. With the scorching summer heat, the houttuynia cordata extract in this cream helps to calm the skin while providing deep hydration. Its lightweight texture makes it perfect for year-round use, from spring to winter! This cream is ideal for those with deep dryness who crave intense hydration. I used to struggle with oily yet dehydrated skin in summer, resulting in patchy makeup. However, using this as a base has significantly reduced flakiness and addressed my dry skin concerns. Initially, I was concerned about its slippery, rich texture and worried about absorption. However, true to its hyaluronic acid content, it quickly absorbs, leaving the skin feeling firm and supple. Despite my blemish-prone and super sensitive skin, I experienced no irritation. 1. The gel-like texture provides an instant cooling sensation. Using it with a stainless steel cooling tool doubles its effectiveness in reducing morning puffiness without irritation. It also visibly tightened my pores and diminished redness caused by heat. 2. While it's excellent as a pre-makeup base, this product truly shines as an overnight hydrating mask. Apply a generous layer before bed, and wake up to plump, moisturized skin that's perfectly prepped for makeup. Unlike other night creams that can feel slippery and heavy, this one absorbs easily with minimal stickiness, making it ideal for a hydrating mask routine. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinMay 26, 2025
โ Hydrating and absorbs well With summer approaching, I've been wary of heavy creams that feel stuffy and sticky. This product, however, starts off with a moist yet rich texture. It applies smoothly without drying out the skin and absorbs well, leaving a fresh feeling at the end. โ Holy grail for combination dehydrated skin I'm someone whose skin quickly dries out with light products, but gets blemishes from anything too rich clogging my pores! As mentioned above, this starts off rich but finishes fresh - exactly the texture I love. โ Hygienic tube packaging Many of my favorite creams come in jars, which I've always felt attract dust and are less sanitary. This super soft plastic tube feels like squeezing silicone - I absolutely love it. โ Not sure if it's just my skin, but there's a slightly slippery feeling right after application! It does go away with time, but if you're in a rush to apply makeup in the morning without waiting, your base might pill a bit. Seems like it needs a little time to absorb properly! โ Perfect product to keep in the fridge and apply cold! It really cools down your face and gives an amazing burst of hydration. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMay 22, 2025
This is a review from The Hwahae Testers. I have combination dehydrated skin that's super sensitive, and I often have allergic reactions to natural oils and plant extracts. Here's my feedback after using the product for a week: 1. Exceptional hydration despite being a gel cream I usually avoid lightweight gel creams as they lack the moisturizing power I need, as I hate the feeling of deep dryness. However, this emulsified gel cream surprised me with its impressive hydration. It was particularly effective in addressing my skin's deep moisture needs, which was very satisfying for my combination dehydrated skin. 2. Skin barrier support I appreciated how the ceramides in the product helped strengthen my skin barrier. Recently, I used it alongside a heavier PDRN ampoule without experiencing any blemishes. My skin felt generally more comfortable and resilient. However, this combination was a bit too rich, so I found it works perfectly when paired with a lighter ampoule or toner. 3. Summer-friendly I believe those with oily or combination dehydrated skin could use this comfortably even in the height of summer. It provides sufficient hydration without feeling heavy, making it pleasant to use in hot weather. I'm currently using it with a light ampoule, but I think it could work well on its own during the peak of summer. 4. Clean ingredient list and subtle fragrance I felt reassured by the overall clean composition of ingredients. The absence of added fragrances was a plus. Despite my sensitive nose, I didn't detect any unpleasantly strong scents. You'd have to bring it close to your nose to catch a faint floral scent, making it suitable for those sensitive to fragrances. 1. Somewhat slow absorption Due to the gel cream's characteristic slippery texture, it doesn't absorb instantly. Rather than being immediately absorbed, it requires some time and thorough massaging. This might be a bit inconvenient during busy mornings. 2. Plant extracts With various extracts included, those with allergic skin should do a patch test. I was fine, though! 3. Hydration level While the hydration is good for a gel or water cream, it's not as intense as a regular cream! Those with dry skin might feel some deep dryness except during the peak of summer. Recommended for those looking for a summer moisturizer with decent hydration!
