It can be slightly matte. Since I have extremely dry and sensitive skin, I found that applying it over a hydrating toner and the Physiogel cream made it work better for me. But the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

Around the summer of 2012? I started using it then and have been purchasing it ever since. This seems to be the only cosmetic product I've used consistently for the past 4 years. I'll be honest in my review. The BB cream does have a somewhat ashy tone. However, when I apply blush on top, it's not as unpleasant to look at. I think it covers blemishes, acne scars, and enlarged pores much better than many foundations. 
I'm not sure about the ingredients, but whenever I've tried using other BB creams or high-coverage foundations in between, my skin would get really upset, so I always end up coming back to this one. This is just my subjective review, so please take it as a reference. If the company representative sees this, please don't discontinue this product!

I've tried using sponges and air puffs, but the creamy formula applies best with a brush.

As with any pore-blurring product, if you don't cleanse thoroughly, some bumps may come up.

This BB cream is amazing at covering pores!
With my large pores, acne scars, uneven texture, and redness, I've tried many different foundations, but this BB cream is the best at expressing my skin and covering pores.
I usually look for good lasting power and coverage that breaks down beautifully, so I've been mixing Armani and Double Wear.
The lasting power of the Armani + Double Wear combo is better, but this BB cream is excellent value for money.
On days when I need to be out for a long time, I still use the Armani + Double Wear combo, but for my daily wear, I mainly use this BB cream.
I don't even need to use a pore primer, as the effects are visible.
It's also less ashy-looking than other BB creams.
The shade 21 is perfect for brightening up my usual complexion.
Those with a fairer or darker skin tone may not find the right match, though.

If you have a bright complexion or oily skin, I recommend trying the DHC sunscreen mixed with other products.

The tone did not match my pale, yellowish complexion regardless of the brightness level. I'm unsure if the longevity is high when used alone. I felt the color was too dark when I used it on its own.

I have a lot of scars and redness, so I have to use concealer... That's about the only downside I can think of. After applying and waiting a few minutes, it brightens up and the effects kick in, so using concealer in just a few spots isn't a major issue, but if I had to nitpick?

This seems to effectively control the oil on my sensitive, troubled skin. Although I have a lot of scars and large pores, it covers them well. Even after about six hours of wearing it, there's just a slight sheen on the T-zone and it still feels soft and smooth. It used to be a mess with constant oil and breakdown, but I really like this!

Using a cushion puff to apply is recommended, as applying with your fingers can cause dryness and cakiness in the dry areas.

You have to apply it by tapping with a cushion puff, not by swiping, to avoid it getting cakey.

My T-zone is particularly oily, so my makeup can easily get cakey. But this product doesn't get cakey even after long wear without touch-ups, and it covers my blackheads really well. I think this is the only BB cream that can withstand the office heater. At first, the gray color may seem worrying, but once applied, it definitely brightens up the skin tone, so no need to worry. It also doesn't crumble easily, but if it does, it crumbles beautifully. It also does a great job of controlling oil! If you normally use foundation in shade 23, this should work well for you. However, the coverage may not be enough to conceal severe acne scars. So it's suitable for daily use. On days when you have an appointment, apply foundation as well.^
