After 2 weeks, the pain persisted, so I went to an ophthalmologist and was diagnosed with a stye.
I had never had a stye in over 30 years of living, so I didn't anticipate the symptoms at all. I was prescribed antibiotics (eye drops and oral medication), and the doctor said that if the small vertical indent under my eye was lanced, it could leave a scar, so he postponed the procedure and just gave me the medication.
I couldn't use eye cream because my eyes were hurting (at the time, I didn't even think it could be this cream). When I stopped using it, the stye went away, but when I started using it again, the hardened stye inside my lower eyelid grew back.
