Personally, I find it more effective when used in combination with other tea tree products rather than on its own. Using it alone feels like it's missing that extra 2%. However, if you change up the application method, it can be quite a versatile product.
The cotton swabs included with the product are pretty useless. It feels like they're just wasting the small amount of oil you get.
Here's a tip about using it in combination with other tea tree products as I mentioned above... I'm currently using Lush's Tea Tree Toner, but honestly, the tea tree toner's mist spray is quite poor, so you need to decant it into another bottle. When I do this, I mix in about 30 drops of this tea tree oil. It really intensifies the scent, and more importantly, using a spot treatment product as a mist allows for easy application all over the face, which I find to be its best feature. I'm not sure if this affects the product's shelf life, but it does mean you need to use it up more quickly, which is a bit of a downside.
