I was lucky enough to be selected as a Hwahae Tester and got to try this product! As a woman in her 30s with dry, sensitive skin and autoimmune skin conditions like atopic dermatitis and lupus, here's my experience: 1. Skin condition: My skin gets red, swollen, and sometimes even bleeds around my nose and cheeks when exposed to sunlight or when I'm not feeling well. My skin was so bad at one point that I couldn't even use basic skincare (I only used small amounts of Madecassol and Vaseline). My skin tends to absorb all oil and moisture, leaving it dehydrated. 2. After use: Initially, it felt quite rich, but after about two hours, the oiliness settled. When applied in the right amount, it absorbs within 30 minutes, leaving the skin hydrated. Over time, there's no excess oil, and it seems to absorb really well. - When applying makeup after this, leave some time in between to prevent caking. Surprisingly, it doesn't pill and there's no tightness. - Sleeping with it on (using a generous amount): No blemishes, no tightness, and it felt wonderfully hydrating. (Usually, even with four different creams, my skin still feels tight in the morning) - When applied to the body, it doesn't feel as rich as on the face and absorbs even faster. No slippery feeling, just hydration. It even calmed the skin on my heels. For the body, applying two to three times a day keeps it hydrated all day long. It might run out quicker than expected though! 3. Conclusion: For my dry skin, it's hydrating without causing blemishes or tightness, and it's non-irritating. Excellent hydration, 100% would repurchase. Great for dry and very dry skin. Best feature: The richness doesn't sit on top of the skin and there's no slippery feeling. I always get pimples the day after eating chicken or cheesy foods (I checked my diet to differentiate between food-related and product-related breakouts) *I may update this review after further use.
The effectiveness may vary depending on your skin type. While it maintained oil-moisture balance well on my face, I needed to apply it two to three times a day on my body to keep it hydrated without feeling tight. It seems like it might run out quicker than expected. As it's a skin balm, it's a bit thick when applying. For those with dry skin who already feel tight and 'cracked' even when doing nothing, the friction while applying might not feel pleasant.
- It comes out like an emulsion but feels firmer when spreading. It doesn't spread easily, so it's best to apply right after showering when skin is still slightly damp. For the face, it spreads well if you apply it over a hydrating toner. - I thought the price listed above was quite high, but after searching online, I found it's available for less than half that price! - It's better than most hand creams. When applied in the right amount, it keeps your hands hydrated without any slippery feeling. I like that the richness doesn't sit on top of the skin. You know how hand creams can make cup handles or pens slippery? This doesn't do that!
