Although it's an oil, it feels like water, resulting in less friction during massage and a much gentler sensation. Even during the emulsification process, it seems to emulsify smoothly and without irritation when just a little water is added. I'm not a fan of the slippery finish, so when I use only the oil, it leaves a slick feeling. That's why I follow up with a foam cleanser as a second step (this might be more of a personal preference though).
