The color payoff is absolutely amazing. Just apply a little, press your lips together, and gently dab the color to spread it evenly - it looks gorgeous! I prefer a natural look, so this method works perfectly for me. If you want a more intense color, you can apply it like a regular lipstick. The best part is that a little goes a long way due to its excellent pigmentation! The staying power is impressive too. As long as you don't apply it right after using lip balm or gloss, it stays on beautifully even after eating and gently blotting with a tissue. My lips tend to be a bit dry, so I usually apply this product on bare lips and then follow up with a light layer of lip balm for extra comfort. There's nothing really negative to say! Even though I have sensitive skin, I've never experienced any blemishes around my mouth from using this product, so I'm really enjoying it. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMay 10, 2020
The staying power is great! It's a deep, slightly cool-toned red. You can wear this alone without much eye makeup and still look put together. As it's a long-lasting pencil, make sure to apply lip balm and prep your lips beforehand to prevent it from emphasizing dead skin cells. For a sharpener... try buying a stationery one, it's cheaper. Look for Stabilo's thick colored pencil sharpener. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinMay 6, 2019
It absorbs well, doesn't dry out the skin, and has great staying power. The color is quite dark and leans more towards brown than red. Compared to Dang'd, it's a bit darker. The bottom swatch is Sexual Content lip gloss. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedMar 11, 2019
Among NARS lip pencils, I own three in the red family. Consuming Red is the deepest shade of the trio. I've included a swatch photo of my NARS red lip pencils for reference. While Cruella is the closest to a classic red, Consuming Red is a deep, dark red with a hint of burgundy. The other red lip pencil I have is Golshan, which is a satin lip pencil with a brownish-red hue. The Velvet Matte lip pencils have a formula that's not stiff or overly pigmented, but rather a matte lip that applies smoothly and naturally. This makes them approachable even for those who typically find matte lips daunting. I prefer applying Cruella all over the lips for a beautiful look, rather than as a gradient. With Consuming Red, I enjoy both full coverage and gradient applications. If you're a fan of matte lips and red shades, I can personally guarantee you won't regret purchasing these two colors. The inconvenience of having to sharpen the pencil. It's disheartening to see product wasted during sharpening. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinFeb 2, 2019
The NARS lip pencil has excellent application and color payoff, making it my most collected lipstick product. However, this particular shade doesn't suit my complexion at all. What a shame, it feels like such a waste! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinRecommendedNov 15, 2018
This product is the king of kings when it comes to staying power and color payoff. Every woman should have a red lipstick, right? I've tried all the famous reds, but none of them suited me (autumn warm tone) until this one. The moment I apply it, my face looks radiant and it's truly an attention-grabber! I wore this all night while eating and partying, and it barely budged. The color is so sophisticated too. I'm extremely satisfied with it in every way. The most annoying thing about NARS is that you have to buy a separate lip pencil sharpener. Apart from that, I have no complaints. I really wish they'd improve it to a twist-up design instead. Definitely go for the full lip! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinRecommendedOct 17, 2018
It applies thinly, so your lips don't feel weighed down. I used to think that lip products needed strong staining power for long-lasting wear, but this product shattered my preconceptions! While the staining is subtle, its adherence is remarkable, making it resistant to fading. The biggest drawback seems to be the need for a special sharpener. Also, if you're not careful when closing the cap, you might end up with a major mess. I like to lightly layer this over YSL's Nude Emblem. It's an absolutely divine combination! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedApr 26, 2018
The color is absolutely stunning! It makes me wish autumn would come sooner. Compared to NARS Dolce Vita, it has slightly less purple undertones, making it perfect for warm complexions. I've received multiple compliments on how good my face looks when wearing this. While it's matte, I'm a fan of NARS' texture, so I have no complaints. The ingredients list could be better, but you simply can't find this color and texture anywhere else. NARS is love... I'm not a fan of fully opaque lips. On days when I carry a NARS lip pencil in my makeup bag, I always make sure to bring a lip balm too... - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinMar 9, 2018
Got 2 at duty-free for 70 Singapore dollars, about 51,000 won - a great deal compared to the regular price of 36,000 won each. 1. The color is absolutely gorgeous - a wine-tinged red (vampire red, perhaps?) 2. Glides on smoothly 3. Looks beautiful when I use Dolce Vita as a base and lightly apply Consuming Red on the inner lips, then blend for an ombre effect 1. Smaller than expected - thin and short. The quantity feels a bit lacking for the price. 2. Requires a special sharpener, which is inconvenient and bothersome (I don't have one, so I'll need to buy it) 3. It's matte, so you need to exfoliate well 4. The application area is a bit small and thin, so I had to apply multiple times to cover my lips, which was a bit inconvenient - ke****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinFeb 24, 2018
The best thing is the beautiful color. It's a slightly deep, dried rose or brick shade that's perfect for when you want to exude a decadent charm. It looks alluring as a full lip and gorgeous as a gradient too. Above all, the NARS lip pencil glides on incredibly smoothly. Despite being a matte lip product, it applies so effortlessly that it's easy to create a gradient effect. What's more, even though I'm prone to dead skin cells, it doesn't accentuate them at all, which is fantastic. The inconvenience of having to sharpen it... It would be so much better if it came in an automatic type. The price of the lip product is already steep, and now we have to buy a sharpener too. Sigh. If a full lip feels too bold, try applying it only to the inner part of your lips and then blend outwards with a cotton swab for a gradient effect. Applying lip balm before the lip color helps maintain hydration while still achieving a matte finish.
