It's gentle and hydrating. Great as a first essence and layers well without pilling. The formula is nice for my sensitive skin and doesn't cause any irritation. I expected a tangy fermented or grainy scent, but there's actually none of that. Instead, there's a slight artificial fragrance when applying, even though the ingredients list doesn't mention it. I've only tried the sample size, so I'm hesitant about purchasing the full-size product. When using an ultrasonic device, it works great to continuously mist this first essence instead of aloe gel. The best part is you don't need to wipe it off afterwards.
