    I switched from the Velvet to the new Silky formula, and I'm really impressed! I have oily, combination skin with redness (shade 22), and honestly, the Silky version is so much more my style! 1) Color I wear shade 23 in both Velvet and Silky, but since Silky has a matte finish, it reads slightly darker. It's not that the shade itself is darker though—it's more that the pink undertone is less prominent and the beige comes through stronger. If I used a pink-based foundation, it would emphasize my redness, and since my skin tone is naturally warm anyway, I actually prefer this! That said, it doesn't look quite like a true shade 23 because it has a greyish cast to it. 2) Formula When you touch the Silky formula, it feels noticeably firmer and requires a bit of rubbing to blend out. But it's definitely not patchy or stiff—it applies smoothly and builds nicely. With the Velvet, since I have oily skin, it would break down and look a bit shiny, so I only used it during the dead of winter. The Silky is comparatively more matte. But is it as matte as Double Wear? Absolutely not. For an Age to Twenties product, it's matte, but objectively it won't look flaky or dry. The pore coverage is solid with these balm-type bases since you apply them with a light hand (honestly, regular cushions emphasize my pores way more). 3) Final Thoughts Since I have extremely oily skin, I think I'll use this year-round, even in winter. I usually go for powder foundation anyway, so for quick touch-ups or when I'm just running out the door, this is so convenient to apply without fussing. Plus, the balm-type formula makes it easy to control how much product you use, so it lasts forever. I think I'm settling on this cushion! Balm-type cushions just feel more concentrated than regular ones (which are thinner), so you can use less product, stretch it further, and still get great coverage.
    The only downside is that greyish cast is still pretty strong—it reminds me of old BB creams. I'm really hoping they'll release a prettier ivory or true beige shade someday. Also, if you're looking for full-day, all-day wear, it obviously won't have the staying power of a liquid or semi-matte powder foundation. But since I mainly use this for touch-ups and quick applications anyway, that's not really an issue for me.
