The tone-up base comes in four shades: yellow, purple, pink, and green. Like the original base, this formula has a thicker consistency and isn't overly dewy, but it does leave a tacky finish. The BB cream is designed to provide full coverage and acts as a protective layer, helping to support skin that's been compromised by laser treatments during recovery. Since the BB cream itself has substantial coverage, the base needs to match that thickness and pigment intensity to work effectively. If you already loved this brand, you'll likely feel the same way about the base. However, if you disliked the brand's signature texture, this base probably won't win you over either. Let me break down the shades for you. My natural skin tone is a cool-toned shade 21 with blue undertones. Right now, both my face and body have uneven tone ranging from shade 21 to 25. My inner arm is shade 21, while the outer arm is 25. My jawline is 22, my forehead is 23-24, my neck center is 22, and my neck creases are around 35. When I blend everything into one uniform shade, it looks decent, but since different areas have different depths, I need color correction to even things out. My skin is sensitive and reactive, so the tone shifts noticeably depending on irritation levels. Warm tones pull orange-brown, while cool tones create an espresso-like dark brown with a milky quality. When I use a warm-toned shade 23 tone-up cream with a yellow or pink base, it becomes a natural beige shade 22. However, cool-toned shade 23 and deeper have black mixed into the brown, so just like how blue or purple under-eye circles show through, the black tone peeks through underneath the color correction. If you have blue or purple under-eye circles, you understand how challenging it is to neutralize that dark tone. Pink Base: The pink base does brighten the skin, but the white cast is most noticeable. Pink is naturally a delicate shade, so it's not strong enough to neutralize brown tones. Purple Base: People say purple looks best on Asian skin because we tend to have yellow undertones, but that advice is really only for warm-toned shade 21 skin. For shade 23 and deeper, I'd say that's not accurate. Think about it: milk tea color plus lavender equals gray. The result is a muddy, unclear tone. Blue Base: Actually, the blue base is cleaner than purple. Since my skin already has blue undertones, using a matching blue-toned base makes my complexion look brightest. I initially thought I should use shade 21, but when I tried it, it looked one shade too light. I need to stick with shade 23. There's an optical illusion where it appears to be around shade 21, but in areas with strong pigmentation, the white powder over brown creates an odd, unnatural appearance. If applied evenly without streaking, the blue base is a solid choice for cool-toned shade 23 skin. Yellow Base: Since brown is a dark yellow tone, this works smoothly. However, like the pink base, it can show white cast in deeper brown areas. Using only the yellow base alone feels slightly off, but layering foundation on top covers the white cast with a beige tone, creating a natural finish. Green Base: I don't have redness, and I wasn't sure if adding green to brown would look muddy, so I didn't originally purchase this shade. However, I received a 10-day sample when buying other Cellfusion C products and tested it. Cellfusion C's green has a grayish tone. While some brands now offer pastel green bases, this one is a muted, gray-toned green. For neutralizing around shade 25 brown, the gray-toned green looked most natural. When you think about it, brown is made of yellow plus red plus black, and since red is stronger than yellow, adding green (the complementary color to red) neutralizes it, which helps neutralize the brown and shift it toward a beige tone. However, if you apply green to skin without brown or redness, it creates a sickly, jaundiced appearance. It seems best to use the green base on larger areas of shade 25 and deeper tones, like a color corrector. I used it on my neck creases and forehead since those areas are more tanned than the rest of my face. Photos Added: The pictures make this easier to understand than my explanation. I adjusted the filter to capture the most realistic tone. My forearm is around shade 23-25. I applied less product near the boundaries so you can clearly see the difference between each shade. As you can see, the green base surprisingly handles brown-toned skin most naturally. Because this product has high oil content, sometimes the formula separates with an unpleasant oily texture. This is definitely one of the frustrating aspects. During summer, oily BB creams can feel sticky and uncomfortable, especially for people who sweat a lot. I mentioned earlier that Cellfusion C is quite oily, and unfortunately, that oiliness doesn't work for my skin. Knowing it wouldn't be a good match, I really only tested the green base to see if it could neutralize cool-toned brown skin effectively. So honestly, this isn't the right product for me. The tone-up base caused no breakouts, probably because it has less oil than the BB cream. Since I'm cool-toned shade 23, the gray-toned green worked well for me, but I'm not sure if it would work the same way for warm-toned shade 23 and deeper skin. I also don't know if the thicker formula is what neutralizes the brown, or if a thinner green base would work just as well. I'd need more data, but since the green base makes most people look sickly, I probably won't repurchase it once my sample runs out. Now that I think about it, celebrity Rosé apparently mixes the BB cream with a green base to create her skin tone. She has no pigmentation or redness, so she must have found the perfect ratio to avoid looking unwell. That mixed shade is probably close to this base's color. The BB cream is a gray-toned beige, and the green base brand she uses has a thick pastel green formula, which would create a gray-toned green when combined. Since I haven't purchased and tested both brands that Rosé uses, I can't say for certain. - do*****Da dầuĐược đề xuất23/05/2025 (UTC+0)
For my daily commute, I prefer using just a tone-up sunscreen, so I keep several on hand and rotate through them. The hand version is my absolute favorite! It does a great job of covering up redness and applies so smoothly and hydrating—I really love it. The staying power is honestly not there. After just an hour or two, it completely fades away. Plus, when my skin isn't in great condition or feels dry, it starts to separate and look patchy, which is frustrating.
