We recommend using this on wet hair! Dry hair tends to get weighed down and won't hold curls well. Apply it evenly throughout wet hair. If you clump it in one spot, it becomes slippery and doesn't work as intended. Formula This has a fairly thick, creamy texture. When you touch it, it feels sticky and slippery. Curl-holding power: 3 out of 5 stars When you apply it to wet hair and shape it into curls by rolling, the curls set naturally. Of course, this works best if you've already had a perm. The great thing is you can create curls without blow-drying. If you're short on time, squeeze out excess water, apply this product, and keep rolling your hair. If you gently re-roll it as it dries, you'll get nicely defined curls and your hair will look more polished. You can also apply it and blow-dry while rolling, which works too. Note: Curls don't hold well on dry hair. And achieving super defined, hairspray-like results isn't realistic with this product. We'd suggest trying something else for that. The conditioner from the same line has a subtle scent that fades after rinsing, but this product leaves a perfume-like fragrance. It's a very rich, sweet coconut scent, so people will definitely have strong opinions about it. Difficult to control the amount You need to spread it evenly. Otherwise, areas where you didn't apply enough won't curl properly, and areas with too much will get weighed down. Once you apply it, it's hard to spread it out, so try to apply it evenly from the start. It works best if you spread your hair wide and apply it in long strokes, then massage it in like you're doing laundry. Scent People have very divided opinions about this. Even if you put a whole coconut on your head, the scent wouldn't be as strong as this. It's such a sweet smell that it might feel overwhelming. It's called a curl cream, but it honestly doesn't hold curls at all! That said, it's absolutely wonderful for frizzy hair. My hair is normally quite frizzy, and this makes it look so much smoother and more polished. I've noticed my hair texture has improved noticeably too. The fragrance is incredibly sweet and lovely. I'd really only recommend this for very frizzy hair. If you naturally have smooth, healthy hair or straight hair, it might make your strands look heavy and weighed down.
