The finish isn't overly matte, so I can use it year-round depending on my base. Personally, there's barely any darkening and minimal pore clogging, which I really appreciate. You need to be careful with how much product you use. Everything else is fine, but the under-eye area looks a bit too bright on me. My skin is naturally quite prone to dryness, and it gets even worse during winter, so I was looking for a cushion that would keep my skin hydrated while providing excellent coverage. I decided to try this one, and even though I deal with acne-prone skin, I'm really impressed! The coverage is fantastic and it feels so moisturizing on my skin. This cushion works great when my skin is in good condition, but when my skin is acting up, I noticed something concerning. After removing it, my acne seemed to get worse and more inflamed. This foundation is way more hydrating than I expected, and it doesn't dry out my skin at all. The coverage is fantastic and the way it adheres to my face is just perfect. That said, there's definitely a good reason why people with oily skin love this product. I'd recommend this more for oily skin types than dry skin. The formula applies quite thickly, and even when I tried using less product, it still went on heavy. This cushion is perfect for winter use. I have sensitive skin and I'm really happy with how it works for me. The product dispensed way too much when I first used it, making it incredibly difficult to control the amount. A lot of reviews mentioned that it doesn't emphasize smile lines, but I did notice a slight bit of that on my face. Before applying, if you have dry skin or you're using this during winter, make sure your skincare base is really solid. Use the powder only on oily areas with a small brush and apply it lightly—you can be a bit more generous around the smile lines if needed. When you first use it, don't press down like you would with a regular cushion; just tap it very gently. I was so happy with the Giverny foundation that I decided to try their cushion too, and the coverage is just as impressive. The cushion doesn't grip to the skin quite as well as the foundation does, but honestly, compared to other cushions out there, the adhesion is pretty solid.
