The formula is pretty solid overall. The slippery texture makes it awkward to apply, and the jar packaging doesn't help. Once it's on, it melts away and I can taste the oil and rose flavor, which isn't my thing. When I apply a generous amount, it creeps past the lip line and I end up accidentally ingesting it bit by bit.

The product has a slight yellow tint in the jar, but applies completely clear on the lips. The moisture level is fantastic, and when I apply it before bed, it works wonders for removing dry patches. I haven't experienced any irritation, and because it's from a brand I trust, I've repurchased it several times. It's a wonderful alternative when you want something more elegant than basic petroleum jelly for your lips. This balm is quite oily, so I'd recommend using it during winter or before bed. If you apply it before makeup, your lipstick might slide around on top. During summer, if you use it daily, the heat can cause it to melt before your lips fully absorb it, and you might feel it dripping slightly below your lip line. Winter is definitely the best season for this product. It's also not ideal for carrying around. If you drop it, it breaks quite easily. The ingredients live up to the claims, which is great. Plus, the scent is a subtle herbal fragrance rather than that typical artificial cosmetics smell, so I really appreciated that. The texture is too thin, so after a while it starts sliding down my chin and feels greasy. It even triggered breakouts for me. I've tried the Martina Gebhardt eye cream a few times, and since this was my first time seeing their lip balm, I decided to pick it up. The moisturizing power is really solid. There's so much oil in it that it feels slippery, and I keep getting this oily taste that makes me not want to wear it as often. The packaging is also pretty inconvenient.

I found myself naturally prioritizing the ingredient list above all else, since this balm can end up in your mouth. What I love most is that it produces less plastic waste and contains nothing harsh for your skin. Plus, the packaging is absolutely adorable! Unfortunately, I developed lip irritation while using this product, which was completely unexpected. I had to stop using it right away. I was really disappointed since I chose this product so carefully, but it just didn't work for my skin. I've been using Martina Gebhardt products with complete peace of mind because the ingredients are so high-quality. I've been using their eye cream for 5 years now, and it's so gentle and wonderful that I decided to try their lip balm this time too. The lip balm is absolutely perfect for me as well! The lip balm has a solid formula that's easy to scoop out with your fingernail, and it melts smoothly onto your lips, making them feel moisturized instantly. Since it has no fragrance, even people with sensitive skin can use it without worry. What I love most is how non-sticky it feels. Some lip balms can be really tacky, and I absolutely can't stand that sticky sensation. I also dislike the feeling of product getting into my mouth, and I have sensitive skin when it comes to taste and scent. Martina Gebhardt is perfect because it has no fragrance and no sticky residue, so the application feels amazing. The results are incredible too. Whether I apply it and check back a few hours later, or apply it before bed and wake up in the morning, all the dry patches are completely gone. Check out the photos! Once you gently exfoliate away the flakiness, apply a thin layer on top and your lips stay beautifully hydrated and soft. I wish it came with an applicator tip so it's easier to use. It would also be great to have a storage compartment where I could keep the tip. Apply it generously to your entire lips before bed, gently exfoliate away any dry patches, then apply a thin layer on top. This way, your lips will stay soft and hydrated throughout the day.
