My skin type: Extremely thin and sensitive with folliculitis. After dealing with a fungal infection on my face a few months ago, my skin barrier was completely compromised and became incredibly reactive. I also experience severe emotional redness and flushing. I previously used a green concealer that really damaged my skin. Why I bought this: I wanted to cover up the redness and flushing caused by stress and emotions. I've heard that green works well for redness because it neutralizes the appearance even if it looks too green at first. I was hesitant because my ultra-sensitive skin reacts to almost any potentially irritating ingredient, so I can barely try new products. This concealer isn't made with the most luxurious ingredients, but honestly, it does a great job covering redness without causing any major issues. I'm writing this review hoping they never discontinue it. The application is quite thick. Even when I apply it thinly, it goes on heavy unless I use a really absorbent sponge. If I tap it on too much with a product-absorbing sponge, I end up looking like an avatar with a green face, but I've learned some tricks to manage it. If I don't prep my skin well, it can look patchy even in summer. If I apply too much, when I layer foundation on top, I can end up with a chalky, cakey white appearance. I always get tempted to really pack on the concealer before foundation to cover all the redness, but then even a light layer of foundation makes it look super cakey. I'm seriously considering switching to shade 23 foundation instead of my usual 19-21. Because it's so green, when you first apply it, you might think it looks too intense and avatar-like, but if you blend it out enough with a sponge, it works beautifully. Since the texture is a bit dry and it applies thickly, try misting your sponge lightly with some hydrating spray before blending. Just don't spray too much or you'll wipe away the product while tapping. This technique keeps it from looking patchy and gives you a dewy, natural finish.
