Whether it's before or after the reformulation, the brightening effect is just patchy and uneven... It melts and runs when it touches skincare products, and washes away with sweat...

I purchased the body wash version, and I love how convenient it is. I just apply it during my shower and rinse it off afterward, so there's no worry about it melting off with sweat. It's so easy to use! The only downside is that it's tricky to apply evenly, and I end up with some patchy spots. Plus, the tone-up effect isn't as dramatic as I'd hoped. That said, for the price point, it's still worth it!
