My hair is quite long, almost reaching my waist, and it's fairly curly. I usually wash it, let it dry a bit, then straighten the flyaways with a flat iron. I occasionally use conditioner after shampooing, but I don't typically use any hair essence or special treatments. Feeling like my hair was getting quite damaged, I considered trying a hair essence. That's when I noticed the Ellips products. I was particularly drawn to how portable they looked. They're famous as a must-buy item in Bali and apparently super popular in Japan too, which piqued my interest. As I mentioned, the capsule form makes them great for travel. Even with my long hair, one capsule feels like enough. I use it before blow-drying, and it doesn't make my hair sticky or greasy. It absorbs quickly, leaving no residue on my hands. The texture is similar to silk therapy products. There are various scents available, so I did a lot of research on reviews. I'm quite sensitive to smells and don't like strong or long-lasting fragrances as they give me headaches. Many reviews said the Shiny Black scent was the best, so I bought the 50-capsule pack. The product description mentioned a sweet and tangy peach scent, which appealed to me. Well... the result was quite disappointing. Peach? Sweet and tangy? Not at all. If I had to describe it, it's more like the scent of the essence they apply at the salon after a treatment. It's quite a sophisticated fragrance, but not what I expected or particularly like. Fortunately, it doesn't give me a headache or make me nauseous. The scent isn't overpowering but lingers subtly for a long time, probably over a day. You catch whiffs of it when your hair moves. My husband, who doesn't like strong scents, smelled my hair and said it was nice, so I'm using it well despite my initial disappointment. The downside is that the capsules are tougher to open than I expected. I imagined they'd be easy to break with a fingernail, like Elizabeth Arden capsules, but they're actually quite sturdy and rubbery. I read in reviews that if you keep rubbing the part you want to open, it softens with your body heat and becomes easier to open. However, it takes longer than expected to soften, which was frustrating for impatient me! Even when soft, it doesn't cleanly break with a fingernail but tears open. This is an area that could really be improved. It's not the sweet and tangy peach scent as described. Also, the capsules are too tough to open easily. Apply the essence evenly before blow-drying your hair. If you rub the part of the capsule you want to open with your fingers, it will eventually become quite soft. - hi******Dry SkinRecommendedApr 6, 2023
As someone with long hair, I need to use a whole packet to get that flowing shine. Even though my hair is super dry and I use a lot of oil, it doesn't feel greasy at all - just beautifully glossy. I love that each packet is individually wrapped, making it really hygienic. In summer, you can easily twist it open, but in winter, it gets a bit firm so you might need scissors to cut it open. I switched from the pink version to the black one, but I'm a bit disappointed. The scent is so faint, I can barely smell it (I bought it because it was supposed to have a peach fragrance, sigh). It also seems to give less shine compared to the pink version, which is a letdown. - Hwahae UserDry SkinRecommendedApr 12, 2021
I've tried both the pink and black versions, but I prefer the black one. The scent is more subtle and pleasant. I'm already on my second bottle of the black one. It worked well when my hair was shoulder-length, but now that my hair has grown longer, one bottle isn't quite enough. If you gently bite the cap (to make it a bit more flexible) and then twist it off with your fingernail, it pops right open! - ys*****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedApr 7, 2020
I'm currently using the ellipse-shaped container. It's great for travel - you can easily pack individual ones! It's way too greasy... In a word, it's like paste. I'm not sure if it's actually improving my hair texture. Since I have oily skin, when this product collaborates with my sweat, it causes blemishes on my face. That's why I've switched to another product that doesn't leave a sticky residue! Squeeze out the contents of one ampoule onto your palm. Apply it to your hair starting from the ends, before using a hair dryer. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedFeb 10, 2020
It's moisturizing and has great hydration. It's really convenient to use one at a time when traveling. I usually only use very rich hair serums because my hair is thick and curly, but this one is lightweight yet effective. If there was a jar version instead of capsules, I would have bought it. It's amazing that it works well even for my hair type! For some reason, it hardened after a few months. I was traveling so I had to dissolve it in warm water, but the capsules became mushy and it was a mess. Use it quickly. One capsule might not be enough for those with long hair.
