If I had oily skin right now, this would be my go-to moisturizer for life. The combination of aloe, squalane, propanediol, trehalose, and sodium lactate is absolutely fantastic. It simultaneously provides skin soothing, oil control, deep hydration, sugar-derived ingredients, and moisture balance - all while carefully excluding harmful ingredients except for essential preservatives. Looking at Awesome's ingredient list, it genuinely feels like they made it for themselves or their family. You can clearly see how they've thoughtfully formulated this product to cater to oily skin without causing blemishes. Another great point about Awesome is their use of natural thickeners instead of carbomer in their products. While it's a safe choice, you'd be hard-pressed to find products this good when you look around. They've truly created products with ingredient combinations that won't cause issues even with long-term use. Personally, what I love most about Awesome is that even after applying toner, emulsion, and cream, my skin still feels like it can breathe. There's no sense of an artificial barrier being forced on, which I absolutely adore. It's a bit of an insider secret, I suppose. Also, based on my experience, this product is really targeted for truly oily skin. For combination dehydrated skin, I'd recommend using a lot of Awesome's Aloe Vera toner and then applying a small amount of the Lemon Balm line for the emulsion and cream steps. Insights from someone who's used various Awesome products for nearly 15 years: For oily skin prone to pustular blemishes: Omija Bubble Foam - Mix Omija line with Aloe line For oily skin: Either Asparagus Bubble Foam or Omija Bubble Foam (try both and choose what works best for you) - Aloe Vera Toner - Aloe Vera Moisturizer For combination dehydrated skin: Asparagus Bubble Foam - Aloe Vera Toner (3+ layers) - Small amount of Lemon Balm Emulsion or Lemon Balm Cream (From my experience, I felt the Lemon Balm Emulsion Cream was better for barrier protection than the Aloe moisturizer. If you have very oily combination skin, the Aloe cream might work well too) For combination or normal-to-dry skin with deep dryness (my skin type): Asparagus Bubble Foam - Aloe Vera Toner (3+ layers) - Small amount of Lemon Balm Emulsion - Generous amount of Lemon Balm Cream (I don't have much surface dryness) For normal-to-dry skin with surface dryness but no deep dryness: Asparagus Bubble Foam - Full Lemon Balm line (toner, serum, emulsion, cream) in generous amounts (I found the Lemon Balm toner to be much richer and better for surface dryness than the Aloe toner) For dry skin with severe surface dryness: Asparagus Bubble Foam - Full Lemon Balm line (toner, serum, emulsion, cream) in generous amounts, followed by mixing a few drops of Awesome Star Flower Oil into the Lemon Balm Cream and applying again - Hwahae UserCombination SkinRecommendedApr 25, 2021
I keep it in the fridge and use it that way. It feels wonderfully cool when applied, and I love how it fills my skin with hydration and nourishment. My morning makeup also goes on beautifully over it! I'd recommend refrigerating it rather than storing at room temperature. At room temperature, it felt a bit heavy on the skin. - js******Oily SkinRecommendedNov 16, 2018
I discovered this brand when I started paying attention to ingredients. After Hwahae launched, I thought this product would be popular there, but the number of reviews isn't that impressive. These days, most brands have at least one product with carefully selected ingredients, so I tend to buy easily accessible products offline. Although I haven't purchased this one recently, I've used it more than three times, so I wanted to share my experience. When kept in the fridge, it becomes delightfully thick. It comes with a spatula for easy application. It provided sufficient hydration (except in winter) and was great for use in midsummer, early spring, and early fall. It's Ecocert certified, and overall, I consider it a product with good ingredients. I believe there are three types of Awesome Cream, and I've tried them all - that's how much I enjoyed this brand. I'm writing this review because these were among the first products I used when I started caring about ingredients, even before Hwahae existed. Oh, and they used benzyl alcohol instead of phenoxyethanol as a preservative. I think this approach to preservatives is better than having none at all. There wasn't anything particularly bad. If I had to pick something, maybe the slow absorption? But faster absorption would require additional ingredients, so I actually prefer it this way. - sw******Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedSep 20, 2018
While it doesn't absorb as smoothly as some products, I really love its hydration and gentleness. It's great for sensitive skin because it doesn't cause any irritation. Being an organic product, it's a bit lacking in terms of how well it absorbs and its overall effectiveness. - se********Dry SkinRecommendedApr 25, 2018
It's incredibly gentle, so gentle! There's absolutely no irritation. The hydration is great, and it's not greasy at all! There's a subtle scent of Madecassoside, which I found quite pleasant. It gives you that feeling of really benefiting your skin! If you don't thoroughly apply your base skincare before this cream, those with dry skin might find it a bit drying, especially in winter! However, I noticed that if I layered my skincare too heavily, my makeup would definitely pill. So I use this at night... During the day, I opt for something lighter that doesn't cause pilling. If you keep it in the fridge, it gets a pudding-like consistency! It absorbs faster, but it can be quite challenging to scoop out with a spatula. - tr*******Combination SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedApr 21, 2018
I discovered this product through the Hwahae app while searching for solutions for my 7-year-old daughter's worsening dry, atopic skin. The ingredients are reassuring, and although absorption is slightly slow, it's not too bad if you pat it in. It seems to reduce itching somewhat, so we'll continue using it. The quantity is a bit disappointing. It would be great if they could increase the volume, even if not to a full-size product. I first apply a regular moisturizing emulsion, then layer this product only on the particularly itchy areas. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSep 4, 2016
It's truly gentle. It feels like my skin can breathe. I've never experienced anything like this before. There's a white cast issue. It does improve if you keep patting it in, but it can be frustrating when you're in a rush in the morning. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAtopic SkinMar 26, 2016
A perfect lightweight moisturizer for summer! The entire Awesome Aloe line is consistently hydrating and gentle, making it a staple in my routine. While it might be a tad dry for winter, it absorbs quickly and isn't sticky at all. It's an excellent product in every aspect. The price feels a bit steep. I wish the volume was a bit larger. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinJan 27, 2016
Highly recommended for those with oily skin! I used to avoid moisturizers because they felt sticky and caused my sebum production to explode overnight. But this one is different - it's amazing! When applied, it actually makes my skin feel comfortable. The surface doesn't feel sticky, but instead becomes pleasantly matte. It's hard to describe, but the soothing effect is incredible, probably due to the aloe ingredient. It instantly calms any redness or blemishes. Honestly, just for its ability to control sebum production, I'd repurchase this a hundred times over! Unscented? It has a slight medicinal smell, and both the texture and absorption are reminiscent of ointment. It's a bit slow to absorb, which can be annoying when applying. However, as you pat it in, your skin feels incredibly comfortable. Once it's fully absorbed, you feel great - that's the catch! Try storing it in the refrigerator! The texture changes to become pudding-like. It's no secret that it can be a bit challenging to scoop out with a spoon, which can be quite bothersome. - wp*******Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinJan 1, 2016
It's great for evening use in summer, and in winter like now, it's amazing when mixed with a bit of face oil! I have acne-prone skin that reacts quickly to incompatible products, but I've been using this consistently for two bottles now without any adverse reactions. Especially in summer, it absorbs a bit slower compared to other products, but that's not really an inconvenience since you can just massage it in a bit more. As someone with combination dehydrated skin, I find it slightly lacking for winter use. However, I've found a method that works well for my skin: I apply a small amount as a first layer, then for the second application, I mix it with face oil.
