A staff member at The Saem store I frequently visit recommended this product to me. I have combination dehydrated skin that produces sebum in my pores very quickly and in large amounts, especially on my nose. Even with daily whiteheads management, they seem to reappear in the blink of an eye. However, when I gently roll this product on my nose using a cotton pad, the sebum comes right out! Of course, it doesn't remove 100% of it, but it does extract a significant amount of sebum without any irritation. It's amazing how even after I thought I had cleansed thoroughly, this essence still manages to remove more sebum when I wipe with it. I didn't even realize it had been discontinued... When I bought an essence, the staff generously provided many mini essence samples, so I wasn't aware it was no longer available. Also, when applied, it doesn't feel exactly moisturizing, but rather has a slippery texture. It's not just smooth, but more of a slick-smooth feeling, if that makes sense? While it's fine on my face, I always make sure to wash off any residue left on my hands because it feels uncomfortably greasy. Apply it to a cotton pad and gently roll over areas with sebum concerns! Even if you're not using it as a cosmetic product, you can dispense a generous amount onto your hands, apply it all over your face, and roll it as if you're washing your face. Our beloved The SAEM♡ Harakeke Water Essence! After using it for just 3 days, my deep dryness completely vanished. I've been using it for a month now! My skin looks so smooth and supple. Unlike other brands, this is 100% pure extract. Too rich? Since it's pure extract, it might not suit everyone. It's too rich to use before makeup. I have dry, sensitive skin that's prone to freckles, which often made my base makeup look patchy. However, when I use The First Essence, it feels like it creates a protective layer on my face. This helps my base makeup adhere much better! I'm currently on my second bottle and I think I'll keep using it for the foreseeable future. On days when my skin isn't at its best, even with the essence, my makeup still tends to look patchy. I guess there's no helping it on those off days. What's a bit disappointing is that the slight shine it gives can sometimes prevent makeup from adhering well on certain days.

Being a fermented product, it's also very mild on the skin. I really like it. I didn't experience any blemishes at all. If I had to point out a downside, I'd say the price is the only thing, but that's about it. It works well when applied with a cotton pad as an exfoliating toner. I also recommend using a small amount from the bottle as a facial mist.

It does absorb if you pat it in, but I don't like that greasy feeling. So I follow up with an exfoliating toner on a cotton pad, then apply my regular toner. It has great moisturizing power that's perfect for winter use. When I apply foundation, there's no flaking, and it helps calm down dead skin cells. Plus, it's fragrance-free, so I can use it without any worries! To be honest, it might be too slippery for those with oily skin... It doesn't seem to absorb well. You have to pat it in a lot to get it to absorb, and even after that, it still feels greasy and looks shiny. I love how I can pour it into a mist bottle and spray it right after cleansing. It keeps my skin hydrated while I'm drying my hair and doing other things. A staff member recommended this, saying it has similar ingredients to SK-II's skin essence. I gave it a try and loved it! It's like a toner that you wipe off, which made it perfect for summer - just this alone kept my skin hydrated. In winter, applying this before makeup made my foundation go on flawlessly! When you first apply it, it feels like there's a slightly sticky or oily film covering your skin, which took some getting used to.
