I have a skin type that responds well to other brands' squalane creams and oils, so due to increased deep dryness during the seasonal change, I carefully read all the reviews and decided to buy The Ordinary's oil. However, it doesn't absorb at all and just sits on the surface of my skin. I can't use it. Even when mixed with other products, I've never had an oil that my skin rejected this badly before. Unfortunately, this product didn't work for me despite my usually oil-friendly skin. - ju******Combination SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedNov 29, 2024
It absorbs really well. Despite being an oil, it doesn't clog pores, leaving a fresh feeling. It's a great product to apply at night, even in summer. The dropper packaging is a bit tricky because the formula is quite runny and tends to drip. - ro*******Combination SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedNov 25, 2024
When my skin gets really dry, I often pat this on instead of other oils since my pores tend to clog easily. I also mix it with my last-step ceramide cream. It doesn't keep my skin hydrated as long as some other face oils, but it doesn't cause any blemishes. If you want a product with a recent manufacturing date, consider purchasing it directly from overseas. - 4k********Combination SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedNov 9, 2024
I mix in squalane during the final step of my skincare routine when I need it. It seems to help regulate sebum production, which is great. It's tricky to get the right amount at first. Be careful not to apply too much, or you'll end up with an oil slick on your face if you use it like you would an essence. - mj********Combination SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedSep 19, 2024
I always felt dry skin... but since I've found this product, it's completely banished my dryness. I'm excited to see how it performs this winter. I always use Estée Lauder foundation, but when my skin feels too dry for it to work well, I mix in 2-3 drops of this. It prevents pilling and helps the foundation absorb perfectly! The squalane ingredient occasionally doesn't agree with my skin when it's not in the best condition, so I use it carefully depending on how my skin feels. - se*******Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedDec 25, 2023
I don't use it on my face, but I mix it with body emulsion or add it to thick hair essence. It thins out the consistency, making it spread evenly and seemingly prolonging the hydration. It feels somewhat unnecessary, but I keep buying it because it's inexpensive and I feel like something's missing without it. Ironically, I've never managed to use up a whole bottle before it expires! - jj*********Dry SkinSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessRecommendedDec 21, 2023
1. It's affordable. 2. The squalane is similar to our body's natural sebum. That's why it absorbs well into both hair and skin. 3. Even when applied generously to hair, it doesn't make it look greasy, eliminating the need for a separate hair essence. 4. Since I started mixing it with my body emulsion during dry winter months, I haven't experienced any dryness. I haven't experienced any. I'm just writing random words to fill up the space. You can use it as a hair oil and mix a generous amount into your body emulsion. This way, it can easily last for 6 months without any issues. - ai******Dry SkinSensitive SkinInner DrynessRecommendedDec 21, 2023
If you're dealing with dry, tight skin in winter but hate heavy products and fear blemishes, you must try this. It's a lightweight squalane oil that flows like water when you drop it. I've been using jojoba oil every winter, but decided to try The Ordinary's squalane oil for the first time with my other purchases. Wow, it's amazing! My skin used to suffer from deep dryness in winter, requiring frequent moisturizer touch-ups, but this product has significantly reduced that issue. As someone with super sensitive skin, I was worried about blemishes, but after 3 weeks of use, I haven't experienced any blemishes or tiny bumps. There's nothing to complain about. It's perfect for my dry and sensitive skin. Mixing just 2-3 drops with your moisturizer is enough. You can even use it before applying makeup in the morning without it causing your makeup to smudge or come off. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedDec 13, 2023
I bought this after a friend's recommendation, saying its structure is similar to human sebum and can reduce oil production. When I applied it to half my face as an experiment, I observed less sebum secretion on the treated side. Despite its oil-like texture, it gently smooths dead skin cells without clogging pores, so it doesn't cause blemishes. It's not actually oil, which might be why it's so effective. It's extremely runny... so much so that if you just open the bottle and hold the cap without squeezing the dropper, it drips out. If you're not careful with the timing, it's easy to spill everywhere. The oil-like texture doesn't absorb quickly, but rather feels like a thin, breathable film on the skin. If you're looking to solve deep dryness or want a well-absorbed, powdery or bouncy finish, you might not like this. For a non-greasy finish, mix a drop or two with a cream that absorbs well. The cream will help carry the product into the skin without leaving a shiny residue. If you dislike even the slight silky feeling left behind, gently pat your skin with a damp, well-wrung sponge for a fresh, hydrated finish. - al*******Oily SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresRecommendedNov 9, 2023
Despite being an oil formula, it's not too heavy even for oily skin. Just two drops help combat deep dryness and reduce sebum production. For some reason, when mixed with cream, it doesn't address deep dryness and only leaves the skin surface looking greasy. It's better to use it alone or mix it with toner.
