The application is smooth - it's a hydrating cushion that doesn't cause any tightness or dryness while wearing (I have extremely dry skin, especially around the eyes and mouth, which usually causes makeup to flake off). Due to its moisturizing nature, it adheres well to the skin. Unlike many hydrating cushions that leave puff marks, this one allows for carefree application. Despite being hydrating, the formula is lightweight (just be sure to control the amount). It covers redness well, and while it doesn't provide 100% blemish coverage, I'm satisfied with the level it does offer. After close observation, I've noticed it's slightly darker than a typical #21 shade, giving a very natural look. It's about a #22, which seems to help 'overpower' blemishes - the cushion color wins over my imperfections, if that makes sense. If you're particular about color, keep this in mind. The color tends to be on the darker side. If you're looking for a brighter look, there are lighter shades available - you might want to choose those.
