I once used Paula's Choice products for everything from cleansing to skincare basics. Among them, some were decent, some I vowed never to use again, and some were absolutely fantastic - this product being one of the latter. First off, I love the packaging of all Paula's Choice lines. There's something about the containers that makes them feel truly functional, as if they're going to transform my skin. They're also conveniently portable. This retinol serum, made of plastic, is neither too big nor too small, making it perfect for on-the-go use. I'm also a big fan of the pump design that requires twisting the cap to reveal the nozzle - it feels incredibly hygienic, as if not even air can get in. That covers the positives of the product packaging. The texture is like a firm oil, almost reminiscent of corn syrup. A pea-sized amount is enough to cover the entire face. Every time I apply it, I feel a slight warmth and my skin becomes noticeably radiant. It feels like applying a light oil, so I only use it at night. The next morning, my skin has a beautiful glow. There's also this sensation of tightness - not from lack of hydration, but as if it's actually tightening my wrinkles. I'd give it five stars, and I even bought some for my mom.
While it might be great for combination dehydrated skin like mine or for dry skin, those with super sensitive skin should be cautious. For me, it's a perfect evening serum without any drawbacks.
I only apply it in the evening, but before using this serum, I always apply Paula's Choice BHA. When I do this, I wake up the next day with even smoother skin. The BHA and this product are a perfect match. Also, if you register as a Paula's Choice member, you'll receive frequent discount information. I usually purchase when there's a 25-30% discount.
