Being accustomed to automatic twist-up eyeliners, I found it inconvenient to constantly sharpen this one. Personally, the effort required for sharpening was a bit much, so I'd rate it 3 stars instead of 5, unfortunately.

I bought shade 15. It's a natural brown that's perfect for everyday wear. The shimmer is so fine that you can barely tell it's there - just a subtle, ethereal glow! It's impressive how easily it comes off with gentle oil cleansers, which seems to be less harsh on the eyes.

I've listed the positive points, so please refer to those for more information.

Be careful when applying multiple layers, as it can clump a bit if you overdo it.

As someone who's been using shade 15 of this product for over two years, I highly recommend it! The application is smooth, and the color is absolutely gorgeous. The subtle shimmer adds an extra touch of beauty. Personally, I find that the natural brown shade enhances my eyes more beautifully and deeply than black. These days, I use shade 15 as my base, and when I want a more defined look, I add a touch of shade 08 (a shimmery black) at the outer corners. This creates a truly deep and striking eye look. Since I have somewhat prominent double eyelids, I apply it thinly at the inner corners and gradually thicken the line towards the outer corners. While no eyeliner is completely smudge-proof, the application and staying power of this one are so good that a little smudging isn't really an issue. It's a bit of a long explanation, but in short, this is my absolute favorite!

When they get too short, I keep them in my makeup bag as backups. This is an absolute must-have item for me, so I can't be without it. That's why my makeup bag is full of eyeliners (when they're short, they can dry out a bit, reducing application smoothness - but it still doesn't hurt to use). If you sharpen it too pointy, it might break, so I keep it slightly blunt. If it does get too sharp, I tap the tip with my finger to blunt it, making it easier to use. I mix oil with my BB cream, which can cause smudging. To prevent this, avoid oil around the eyes and pat some powder on before applying the eyeliner.

I'm not sure how others use it when it gets short, but it wears down faster than expected (with daily use). It lasts about 2-3 months if you're lucky, maybe just 2 if not (is this normal for everyone?). I usually buy 2-3 and keep them stocked, using one at a time. Regular pencil sharpeners don't work well and can ruin the tip. The Face* sharpener is the best fit and works fine. You don't need the one with two holes. Be careful not to sharpen it too pointy as the tip might break. As I have very monolid eyes, it can smudge a bit at the outer corners sometimes. But compared to other products I've tried, it's still very, very good in this aspect. Usually, one touch-up is enough to fix it. *For reference: I have monolids, single eyelids, and dry skin.

I stumbled upon this product at Olive Young one day when I forgot my makeup, desperately needing to cover my bare face. It's been my go-to for over 6 years now! Unlike other pencils that often break when you're applying, this one doesn't have that issue. It's not too hard, so it doesn't hurt the delicate eye area. It doesn't smudge easily (it's waterproof) but still removes well! I use shade 15, which creates a natural shadow on my dark-yellow complexion without looking too white. The shimmer isn't excessive, blending naturally with my makeup (though as I have monolids, I use this for contouring and add a black eyeliner on top). You can control the color intensity too. I've been in love with this product for years. Though it's a bit pricey, I've tried similar products like Wood* and others, but I just can't switch! *Note: I don't usually go for higher-end products. I've tested trendy eyeliner pencils now and then, but always find something off (too glittery, too soft, unnatural colors, etc.).

For pencil liners, if you let the eyeliner dry a bit after application before moving your eyes, it's less likely to transfer onto your double eyelids.

The pencil is a bit soft, which makes it easy to apply but sometimes breaks while sharpening. It's not completely smudge-proof.

This is the best pencil liner I've found since Stila's. It glides on smoothly and has 'relatively' less smudging. I especially love the brown shade - it's the calm, reddish-free brown I've been looking for, so I use it all the time. I'm using shade 11. The price point is also affordable, which is why I'm already on my third one!

I use a soft eyeliner for my waterline and then use a gel liner or pen liner for my wing when doing my makeup!

Some people mention it smudges, but given the nature of pencil liners, a bit of smudging seems unavoidable. Still, I think this is one of the pencil liners that smudges the least.

For a pencil eyeliner, it doesn't smudge much. I use shade 11, which is a dark brown, allowing for a natural-looking eye makeup!

Look for a different eyeliner that doesn't smudge instead of this one.

1. Some people say it doesn't smudge, but for me, it smudges a lot even after I've carefully set it with powder. If I use just a bit less powder, it smears incredibly easily and quickly. Plus, it flakes off as powder and spreads everywhere (what's the point of controlling oil around the eyes when it's falling all over under them?). It smudges so easily even when applied lightly, it's unbelievable.

2. I don't know what came over me when I bought this, but I ended up getting two shades - a matte brown and a black. Both are too soft, causing them to crumble while applying and smudge easily.

3. You need to sharpen it, but the problem is it's so soft that it quickly becomes blunt, resulting in thick, uneven lines.

These three drawbacks create a vicious cycle that makes me avoid using it. I really can't recommend this product.

It applies smoothly and I love the color. The staying power seems pretty decent too.

If you sharpen it with a regular 2-dollar sharpener from the store, it won't break and you can use it for a long time.

It rarely goes on sale, and there aren't many places that sell it, making it difficult to purchase offline.

I'm currently using Deep Forest Brown as an under-eye liner, and it's so gentle that there's no irritation. It's now about the size of a mini stub pencil, so I'm planning to repurchase.

For tightlining... honestly, it's a bit tricky. It gets blunt so quickly that precise lines become impossible.

I thought it would last a while since it's quite big and long, but because it's a pencil you sharpen, it quickly becomes blunt and soft. Before you know it, it's short after just a few uses. As others have mentioned, it's best to buy this only when it's on sale at Olive Young.

As someone with seriously smudge-prone monolids, if I mess up my eyeliner, I might as well head to the zoo. It used to smudge so badly that I'd end up looking like a real panda. But this product smudges the least among all the famous waterproof brands I've tried, including Kiss Me, Clio, and others. I love it! However, after about an hour, some smudging is inevitable, so I just apply it to my bangs area and outer corners.

The photo shows the process of swatching on the back of my hand, spraying with mist, then applying a rich cream I use as eye cream, rubbing for about 20 seconds, and how it didn't smudge or come off afterwards. As mentioned above, it can smudge on really tough summer days.
Normally it doesn't smudge, but it fades slightly after about 12 hours. However, Make Up For Ever and BBIA fade to a similar extent. I prefer this product to Make Up For Ever.

It's a pencil you need to sharpen, and because it's soft, you need to sharpen it often and it gets used up quickly.

The price isn't exactly cheap. In order of affordability: BBIA > Artdeco > Make Up For Ever

This is a review for shade 15. Definitely go for shade 15 if you want brown.

Firstly, it barely smudges. My eyes tend to make most pencils smudge, but this one is on par with Make Up For Ever Aqua XL and BBIA Last Pen Eyeliner. It might smudge slightly on very sweaty, tough days.

There's a darker matte brown than shade 15, but that one smudges easily.
The texture of the matte and shimmer versions is completely different. The matte one is softer...

Smooth application! It glides on well with just one or two strokes.
