That's probably why it still has that distinct fermented scent. Like the original, it's a watery essence that you pat in after toner for absorption. Despite containing preservatives due to fermentation, it's been a godsend for my extremely dry and sensitive skin. While other 'gentle' products often cause redness, this one soothes deep dryness without irritation. I'm on my third bottle after switching from the original Pitera. Though I sometimes can't tell the difference, using this definitely gives me a better feeling - placebo effect maybe? Haha! When I've tried other products, people always say I look tired. It's also great for calming blemishes - just soak a cotton pad and apply. For me, it's truly a lifesaver.
ConsThe biggest downside? The price! It's outrageously expensive. There are so many affordable 100% galactomyces products out there now, but this one remains incredibly pricey. I've been trying to switch to more affordable, gentle alternatives. However, my super sensitive skin breaks out terribly when I change products, so I always end up keeping a bottle of this or the original Pitera on hand. Due to its fermented nature, it won't suit everyone. But if you can afford it, tolerate fermented products well, and need intensive skin care, it could be worth trying. Though it's hard to recommend given the cost. And the smell... that's another major drawback. I think it's because there are no artificial fragrances, which would require more preservatives. Lastly, while the packaging looks luxurious, it's hard to tell how much product is left - you have to keep shaking it to check.
TipThe best way to minimize the smell is to use a skincare fridge. It protects from direct sunlight, prevents bacterial growth, cools your skin, and reduces the odor. Storing it in a dedicated cosmetic fridge really makes a difference. Of course, that's another expense... sigh...
