I used to apply strobe cream intensely on the butterfly zone, center of the forehead, and chin, then blend outwards before setting with a high-coverage powder. This technique creates an Inner Glow effect of light trapped within matte skin. Using this base makeup method allows just the right amount of luminosity to escape, resulting in a radiant complexion. But here's the kicker - it's a moonlit gold glow! I swear, I nearly gave myself a neck cramp turning my head in front of the mirror to admire it. For this look, I used a highlighter brush similar to Anssi ebony09 or MAC 187. It's immediately clear why this product is renowned for being perfect for this application. Rather than targeting just the high points of the cheekbones, it creates a seamless glow that naturally diffuses to the surrounding areas. Sweep once over the cheekbones, then hold the brush vertically to gently pat the residual highlighter onto the butterfly zone for a flawless finish. It's gorgeous! You can use it for ages - it'll probably last for years without wearing out. It's divided into peach, white, and sky blue colors, so you can create different looks with each shade. I recommend using sky blue on the inner corners of your eyes, white on the tip of your nose, and mix the rest or use sky blue all over.

Known for its natural-looking glow, the MAC highlighter was my choice after debating between this and Laura Mercier's satin finish. I opted for this one based on recommendations for fair skin, as it supposedly has a whiter sheen. However, upon application, I was disappointed. It has an ivory tone with a yellowish tint that looks very unnatural and floaty on my skin, despite my neutral-cool undertone. Even when applied thinly with a dedicated highlighter brush, there's no hint of white - it's just yellow. And not a subtle yellow, but a full-on yellow shade. While the powder is finely milled and feels nice, it falls short of the color I expected. Feels like I wasted money on this one. I think I'll stick to Dior highlighters from now on... This one is seriously yellow. It has that oddly out-of-place yellow tone without any trace of the promised white sheen.
