I'm not sure about any downsides, but I've been using it for a long time.

I've tried a lot of other brand dry shampoos, but this one is the most effective, long-lasting, and has a nice scent.

The dry shampoo I started with was Batiste, which has been around for a while.
I used to think all dry shampoos were the same, but Batiste was the most famous one when I first bought it.
The spray power is decent. When you spray it, your hair gets a white coating, so it's best to use your hands to distribute it evenly before brushing.
It doesn't completely get rid of the greasy feeling, but it works fine when you really can't wash your hair. 
Just spraying it once doesn't keep your hair feeling fresh all day, so if you have to be out for a long time without washing your hair, it's best to carry a small travel size or use a mattifying powder.

Don't spray it too much from afar, just use a moderate amount and brush it through!

It's not really a tip, but... when you can, try to wash your hair as soon as possible after using it! After all, it's a powder treatment, so if you leave it on your hair for too long, it's natural for your scalp and hairline to get irritated or itchy, so wash it off as soon as you can!
