The rich lather gives a thorough cleansing sensation. The cleansing power feels so strong that my skin feels excessively dry unless I apply an emulsion afterwards. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedSep 27, 2019
It seems to be a product that provides excellent hydration and has pretty impressive cleansing effectiveness After using it, you might experience some deep dryness, so I'd recommend applying an emulsion afterwards - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinJun 17, 2018
As someone with combination skin, I found this made my skin feel too dry. I wouldn't recommend it. The drying effect is quite intense, which is the main issue. The price is reasonable though. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinJul 20, 2017
It completely messed up my face. I'm so frustrated, ugh. This is the worst. It caused everything from tiny bumps to full-on blemishes. I'm seriously ticked off. Nope. - Hwahae UserDry SkinFeb 28, 2017
It seems gentle. It worked well for my skin. Since I don't usually wear much makeup, I use it mainly for cleansing. The cleansing effectiveness is a bit lacking. If you wear color makeup, you'll need to double cleanse. It's fine if you don't wear heavy makeup. - st********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinJan 7, 2017
Well... I can't say there was anything particularly impressive about it. Hwahae might block my review if I don't mention at least one positive point, so if I had to pick something, I guess it lathers up well? After cleansing with this, my skin feels extremely tight. Also, I thought the Pureness line was supposed to help with blemishes, but it doesn't seem to have done anything for mine. And the thing that bothers me most is my personal opinion about the brand - I've heard Shiseido is anti-Korean, so I'm planning to avoid their products from now on. - Hwahae UserOily SkinJun 8, 2016
It lathers well and seems to be gentle on the skin (mild) Falls short when it comes to removing liquid eyeliner. It feels like something's missing - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinJan 28, 2016
The scent is pleasant, and it lathers well. It seems gentle enough not to irritate the skin. The cleansing effectiveness is weak, so I had to remove my makeup again with another product. Also, I don't like the slippery feeling it leaves after use... - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinJan 11, 2016
Even with my somewhat sensitive skin, this product worked well. It just seemed to suit my skin nicely. I was hoping it would reduce the redness from my acne-prone skin, but even after using it for a long time, I didn't see any improvement in that regard. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinNov 2, 2015
I've been using this cleansing foam since middle school. Shiseido Pureness, designed for acne-prone skin, leaves my face feeling incredibly clean. I actually enjoy that squeaky-clean sensation. It contains small blue beads, but not enough for a proper scrub, so you don't need to worry about irritation from them. During college, when I went to buy Pureness, a Shiseido salesperson insisted I try their Qiora line instead. My skin had such a bad reaction that I was scared to use anything else for a long time after. At least this cleanser has never given me severe blemishes. They say that squeaky-clean feeling isn't actually good for your skin. Our skin is slightly acidic, so using a cleanser with a similar pH is better. Mild acidic cleansers should leave your skin feeling smooth, not squeaky. Alkaline cleansers that give that squeaky-clean feeling can be harsh and aren't great for sensitive skin. But I just can't get used to that slippery feeling from gentler cleansers... Despite using this product for over a decade, my acne didn't really improve. The Pureness Matifying Moisturizer did help control oil, though. What actually helped my acne was Tea Tree Oil and Benzoyl Peroxide. I guess skincare products are just that - not medications. On days when I've been a bit rough with application, I notice redness and a slight burning sensation. The Clé de Peau Beauté Synactif Soap I use now actually calms any existing redness, even if I overdo it. It must be much less irritating. (But what can you do, Clé de Peau Beauté is wickedly expensive...) This product probably isn't pH-balanced either, since it leaves that squeaky-clean feeling. Use this on days when you want your face to feel thoroughly cleansed, especially in summer. If you notice any irritation, switch to a gentler cleanser occasionally to soothe your skin.
