As someone prone to lip allergies, NARS lipsticks just don't work for me. You have to use it when your skin is in top condition because if your immune system is low, it's a disaster - swollen lips, inflammation, oozing... It's chaos! I can't trust the ingredients in color-focused international brands...

The color, oh the color! Why did they discontinue this? It's like turning on a fluorescent light when I apply it. As someone with a deep undertone who leans towards light undertones, I can't find anything that compares to this...

The downsides are the price and the inconvenience of having to sharpen it, but that's to be expected with a lip pencil, right?

Highly recommended for those with a deep undertone in the light range! When used as a base, any color applied on top looks beautiful. It applies more smoothly with less settling into fine lines compared to the cheaper Woodbury lip pencil. The original really stands out - it's in a league of its own!

Perhaps due to its high white pigment content and pencil format, even after proper lip care, it seems to seek out hidden flakes... Those who, like me, are prone to lip wrinkles and dead skin cells might find it challenging to use.
Sometimes it seems to apply well, but upon closer inspection, you'll notice significant white residue between lip lines.
If only the application and adherence were good, it could have been a holy grail lip product... but since these two aspects are terrible, no matter how beautiful the color is, I never reach for it.

You know Mamonde's Creamy Tint? This is smaller, about the size of a pinky to ring finger.
If you use this consistently as a lip base, it'll disappear quickly.
The price seems inflated due to branding rather than product quality or quantity.

- Inconvenience of sharpening
This product has the critical flaw of needing to be sharpened like a pencil... The powdery, creamy formula already feels like it wears down quickly.
But having to sharpen it like a pencil means you're probably losing about $10 worth of product each time you sharpen.

- Don't expect a lip-plumping effect
Since it's a product without shading effects, I felt it made my lips look thinner rather than fuller.
If you still want some lip volume, try adding a bit of shading below the lips and around the philtrum!

It's incredibly difficult to find a fluorescent salmon-colored lip product on the market, and even when they're released, they tend to be discontinued quickly... But the fact that NARS Bolero remains available without being discontinued gives it unparalleled value! For those like me who love vibrant, fluorescent shades, I think you'll be absolutely thrilled using this as a lip base or as a cheek color.

The application is matte, which can lead to dryness later on, and the staying power isn't particularly long-lasting.

This shade is perfect for cool-toned individuals who struggle with lip gradients!

The sharpener is way too expensive... I read online that the Innisfree sharpener can be used as an alternative. Before buying, do a quick search and consider getting a substitute~

Even when applying bold colors, tracing your lip line with Bolero creates such a delicate, soft look! I absolutely recommend it. It's holding up well without breaking!

Try using this to outline your lips, then create a gradient effect by applying a slightly darker lip color in the center.

While the price is a bit steep, I think it's still worth it because it lasts for such a long time!

I think this is an excellent shade for defining lip lines, especially for those with a deep undertone. If you outline your lips with this and layer a slightly darker color inside, it really brightens up your whole face!

Use this after applying plenty of lip balm when your lips aren't dry! It's great on its own, but it's also an excellent base. It pairs beautifully with nude tones, of course, but it also enhances and brings out the best in pink, coral, and orange shades. Highly recommended for its versatility!

There's just one downside - while it feels fine during application, it definitely dries matte afterwards. On bad lip days, it looks okay when first applied, but when I check in the car mirror later, it emphasizes all my dead skin cells and flakes, ruining my whole look. Also, the NARS lip pencil has this odd texture that feels like you're chewing something when it gets in your mouth. Personally, I wish they'd get rid of that. When it mixes with food, it makes me want to wipe off all my lip color.

I have naturally dark and very dry lips, but this product deserves a full five stars for its amazing color payoff! My dark lips usually make every lipstick look the same and age me, and highly pigmented ones crack due to my lip condition. However, Bolero gives me a beautifully fresh nude apricot shade when my lips are in decent condition. It's perfect as a base and doesn't make my lips stand out awkwardly or make my face look pale when I'm wearing other makeup. The NARS lip pencil has a much sharper tip than regular lipsticks, allowing for precise application. Though it's a matte formula, it glides on smoothly and effortlessly, which I love.

Be careful when closing the cap to avoid smudging the product!

Surprisingly, it's quite creamy and not matte. It's not as waxy as MAC lipsticks, but not as glossy as a lip gloss either. The stick itself feels very hydrating, and that sensation transfers to your lips. I'm a bit wary of carrying it around in summer, though it's not overly soft.

I bought this product based on beauty YouTuber Rose Ha's recommendation. Just like Wake Make King's Girl is my holy grail, using these two together creates such a beautiful look! The color is really hard to capture on camera, even under good lighting. Many might be confused when searching online for accurate swatches, but to give you an idea, it's similar to Missha Cotton Blusher in Ballet Shoes or Etude House Single Shadow in Peach Latte. It has a lovely pale undertone that makes it perfect as a blusher too!
