It seems to effectively remove dead skin cells. As the name suggests, there's no need to pre-open your pores with steam or anything like that. It's hard to confirm if the steam actually opens up the pores, and the heat sensation combined with the scrub particles might actually irritate the skin. For those with super sensitive skin like me, it could potentially cause irritation. You'll need to be mindful of soothing your skin afterwards. I'd strongly recommend following up with a pore-tightening mask or something similar. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinApr 9, 2019
Claims to remove blackheads and absorb excess sebum I can't see any effects at all. The brown sugar pack is my holy grail, but this one is really disappointing. What's it supposed to do? It seems to have no effect whatsoever! - Hwahae UserDry SkinRecommendedApr 1, 2019
I bought this on an employee's recommendation, and it's great for removing dead skin cells and blackheads. My skin feels so soft after using it! Nothing particularly bad, but it can be a bit harsh. Those with super sensitive skin should be careful when using it. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedOct 30, 2018
I definitely felt like it was cleaning my pores effectively. It had a warm sensation like a heat pack and a tingling feeling similar to a pain relief patch, which made me feel like I was getting a professional treatment. I liked that. The particles were also small and fine, so there wasn't much irritation. It's great value for money in terms of effectiveness. When applied to bare skin and rubbed in, it feels a bit rough and causes slight irritation. I got some blemishes around my lip area. After use, there's some skin tightness, so I wouldn't recommend it for dry skin types or those prone to redness or blemishes from minor irritation. It's great to use while showering! Rather than rubbing it on bare skin, I recommend slightly wetting your fingers before massaging it in. Instead of scrubbing hard, it's better to gently massage using your ring finger. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinRecommendedApr 14, 2018
The moment you apply it, you feel a warm sensation as it gently melts into your skin. I bought it mainly for my nose pores, so I only use it around that area. You can feel the tiny granules as you apply it. I massage it for about 3-5 minutes, wait for 10 minutes, then wash it off. The texture feels nice when applying, and the warmth seems to effectively dissolve sebum. While it definitely gives the sensation of melting sebum, I'm not sure if it actually removes it. You can clearly see that the sebum has softened and expanded, so I'd recommend using this before sebum extraction. It seems to soften and expand sebum but doesn't actually remove it. I suggest using this as a pre-step before sebum removal, then following up with a sebum-removing mask pack or nose strip for better results. Don't forget to close your pores afterwards using cold water or a tightening mask. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSep 24, 2017
Bought this on recommendation from a beauty guru near Sookmyung University and I'm absolutely thrilled! It's so easy to use, and my makeup applies beautifully afterwards. I've always had issues with my nose area - flaking, dead skin cells, and blemishes - but oh, how I wish I'd known about this sooner! Highly recommend! I haven't finished the whole bottle yet, but a friend told me that it becomes difficult to dispense when you're nearing the end... Use it on your nose, chin, and between your brows, but I wouldn't recommend it for your cheeks! - lo******Oily SkinAcne SkinJul 21, 2017
Skinfood offers a great variety of affordable masks. This one is particularly nice because you can wash it off right away, leaving your skin feeling fresh and clean. I personally found it especially useful as a nose pack. The tube is really inconvenient to squeeze. Considering the price, the packaging lacks user-friendliness. When applied to the face, it turns red everywhere except the nose area. Perhaps due to the scrub particles, it was quite irritating to my skin. Even if you have oily skin, use this only once a week. The scrub particles can make it quite tingling when you first use it. To minimize irritation, open your pores with warm water before applying. - ka********Dry SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsJul 2, 2017
It's not easy to open up pores before extracting blackheads, but this product does that job well, which is great! While it opens up the pores, it's disappointing that blackheads and sebum still need to be removed separately. After using this product, I use a cotton pad soaked in green tea water to close the pores. Preparing these in advance and storing them in the fridge enhances the effect. If you follow up with a green tea mask, you can see a noticeable reduction in pore size! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinApr 5, 2017
I have quite a few pores on my nose, and I heard that for skin with lots of pores, you should open them up with steam before exfoliating! While searching, I found a mask that steams your pores without needing to do it separately. So I bought it right away and tried it out. I only applied it to my nose and chin, and after about a minute, I felt a warm sensation. After about 5 minutes, I gently rolled it off and rinsed with lukewarm water, and the dead skin cells came off better than I expected! I think the advantage is that you can open your pores and exfoliate without going through a complicated process. It feels different from mud masks, so even after time passed, I didn't feel like my skin was tightening or hardening. Since it's a Skinfood product, I feel like I can trust the ingredients too :) It doesn't seem to be a widely known product, but I think it's worth trying if you're concerned about pores! Since it's an exfoliating mask with granules, it might irritate those with very thin skin layers or severe acne blemishes. And honestly, even though it's called a steam mask, you can't really confirm if it's actually opening your pores! It just feels warm, that's about it. When you look in the mirror after using this mask, it seems like it exfoliates, but you don't really feel like blackheads or whiteheads are being removed! Maybe because it's a steam mask, whiteheads do come out of the pores, but they don't fall off, so you might need to remove them separately with something like a cotton swab. They say that exfoliation with granules can be irritating on thin skin areas like under the eyes or cheeks. So I've been using this mask only on my T-zone and V-zone every 3 days, and it seems good!! When rolling, they say it's better not to do it too hard, but to do it gently with relaxed fingers. After exfoliating, I wipe off sebum with a black cotton swab, and it definitely helps with sebum removal :) For those concerned about pores or who produce a lot of sebum in their pores, I think it would be effective to open the pores with this mask, exfoliate, remove sebum with a cotton swab, and then use a soothing mask. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinFeb 21, 2017
I've been using this product for two bottles every year since it was released. The ingredients are quite decent. It's amazing how it creates a warm sensation on the skin. It effectively opens up the pores and removes impurities without any issues. I used it twice a week, and the only downside I can think of is that the quantity is a bit small. Other than that, I don't have any particular complaints.
