When I apply it, I feel like my face gets slightly red. There weren't any particularly bad points, but I can't say there were any standout good points either.

I'm currently on a language study trip in Vancouver, and since I can't buy the products I used in Korea, I tried some recommendations from Sephora! The air in Canada is so dry, my skin has really suffered. Usually when I switch cosmetics, I get a lot of blemishes, but this one feels light to apply and seems gentler than I expected. It doesn't cause any breakouts, so I think it's a safe choice for everyday use.

It's refreshing to apply even in summer, which is great. You know how it can be off-putting to use a cream that's too heavy. This is a versatile cream that's perfect for spring, summer, and fall. Since it's labeled as oil-free, it doesn't feel rich but gives a sense of deep hydration! I also loved the comforting scent.

I'm not an expert, but I understand that on very dry days, it helps to hydrate the skin and then lightly seal it with some oil. So, after toner, I apply a thin layer of this Philosophy oil-free gel moisturizer and pat it in. Then, depending on my skin condition that day, I might add a very thin layer of a slightly richer day cream. This approach has reduced skin issues and improved dryness for me. Of course, results may vary depending on individual skin conditions.

In winter when my skin gets very dry, one application of this cream isn't enough to prevent tightness, so I need to reapply (hence the one-star deduction). Doing this repeatedly makes me feel like I'm using up the cream too quickly, and the amount seems a bit small.

However, this seems to be the case with most oil-free gel-type moisturizers from other brands too. So I came up with my own method... (See the tip below)

Living abroad, my options are somewhat limited, but from what I hear from family and friends in Korea, there are many great Korean products that offer good value for money. So while I can't 'strongly recommend' this product, I'm satisfied with it and want to share my experience.

My skin condition fluctuates often, and I have sensitive combination skin prone to allergies or blemishes if I use moisturizers or functional creams that are too rich. After my go-to Clinique product was discontinued, finding a suitable gel-type moisturizer wasn't easy. I stumbled upon Philosophy creams and tried a few, and this one turned out to be quite good.

Firstly, I've never experienced any blemishes while using it. In fact, even when I had breakouts, applying this cream didn't cause any issues and provided sufficient hydration, which was great. Also, being an oil-free gel type, it feels light and fresh after application, which I love. Occasionally, on very dry days, my skin might feel a bit tight after applying, but a little extra on specific areas solves that. Being oil-free, reapplying isn't a problem.

After finishing one jar, I bought three more and I'm on my second now. With long-term use, I feel my skin has become less dry overall and smoother. Of course, I can't attribute this solely to Philosophy as I use other products too, but I'm satisfied that it hasn't caused any blemishes and generally provides adequate hydration.

The fragrance is quite strong. I didn't notice it much during testing, but it became bothersome with continued use. The hydration doesn't last very long. I bought this Philosophy product at a duty-free shop abroad, excited to use it for summer, but considering the many great hydrating gels available these days, I can't really recommend it for its price-to-performance ratio.

The lightweight formula makes it easy to apply and absorbs well. It's suitable for summer use.

It does contain phenoxyethanol as a preservative, but I didn't experience any blemishes from it.

Applying it after exfoliation during the soothing step leads to better absorption than usual. In summer, you can simplify your skincare routine by applying it right after toner.

It's on the pricier side, and upon examining the ingredients, there are some that might not be ideal. It's best to test if it suits your skin before purchasing.

True to its gel cream nature, it's not too runny while having good absorption. Once applied, the moisturizing effect lasts long. The scent is close to a fresh, herbal aroma.
