I felt like my face flushed a bit when I applied it.
There weren't any major downsides, but it didn't seem to have any significant benefits either.

I'm currently doing a language study program in Vancouver, and the products I used to buy in Korea are not available here. So I got some product recommendations from Hwahae Trial Reviewer and tried purchasing them. My skin has been getting really dry since Canada is so dry. And whenever I change my skincare products, I usually get a lot of breakouts, but this one seems to be gentle and not cause any issues. I don't have any troubles using it, and it works pretty well.

It was refreshing to use in the summer. It would be unpleasant to apply a cream that is too heavy, right? This is a versatile cream that is good to use in spring, summer, and fall. Since it says 'oil-free' on the cream, it doesn't feel oily and has a lot of moisture. The scent is also comforting, which I liked.

 I'm not an expert, but I understand that on very dry days, providing the skin with moisture and then lightly sealing it with some oil can help with hydration. So what I do is, after toning, I first apply a thin layer of the Philosophy oil-free gel-type moisturizer and pat it in to absorb. Then, depending on my skin's condition that day, I'll very lightly apply a slightly oily day cream on top. This seems to help reduce skin troubles and relieve tightness. Of course, this may vary depending on individual skin types.

 During the very dry winter season, just one application of this cream isn't enough to relieve the tightness, so I have to apply an extra layer (which is why I'm deducting one star). Doing that repeatedly makes me feel like I'm going through the cream too quickly, and I wonder why the amount is so small.

But it seems like this issue isn't unique to the Philosophy cream - most oil-free gel-type moisturizers seem to have the same problem. So here's a tip I came up with...

 Since I live abroad, my options are quite limited, but from what I've heard from my family and friends in Korea, there are many good Korean products with great value for money. So while I can't strongly recommend this product, I'm still satisfied with it and wanted to share my review.

I often have fluctuating skin conditions, and I have sensitive and combination skin that's prone to allergies or breakouts if I use the wrong moisturizing or functional creams. After the Clinique product I used to use was discontinued, it was hard to find a suitable gel-type moisturizer that I liked. But I happened to come across the Philosophy cream and tried it out, and I'm quite satisfied with it.

First of all, I haven't had any breakouts since using it, and it even helped soothe my skin when I did have a breakout. It's an oil-free gel type, so it feels light and refreshing after application. On very dry days, I sometimes feel a slight tightness, but just applying a little more fixes that. Since it's oil-free, there's no burden in adding an extra layer.

After finishing one jar, I went ahead and bought 3 more to stock up. Using it long-term, I feel like my skin has become generally less dry and smoother. Of course, I don't attribute that solely to this moisturizer, as I use other products as well. But I'm satisfied that I haven't had any breakouts and that it provides sufficient hydration.

The fragrance is quite strong. I didn't notice it much when testing, but after continued use, it became a bit irritating. 
It's not particularly long-lasting in terms of moisture.
I bought it at a duty-free shop overseas after seeing Philosophy and was excited, but these days there are so many great moisturizing gels, so I can't really recommend it considering the price-to-performance ratio.

The price is a bit on the higher side, and upon examining the ingredients, there seem to be some less desirable components, so it's best to test it on your own skin before purchasing.

The texture is just right - not too runny, with good spreadability, and it keeps the skin moisturized for a long time. The scent is close to that of herbs.
