ProsThis product isn't discontinued! I bought it because it's famous for being an affordable dupe for the Nars Galapagos eyeshadow. It's perfect for softening eyeliner after application!
ConsThe shimmer tends to migrate a bit and there's some excess powder fallout.

ProsI've experienced so many holy grail product discontinuations that it's hard to keep track, but I never thought Nars Galapagos would be one of them. I honestly couldn't imagine it happening since it wasn't a particularly unique shade and sold well across both Eastern and Western markets.
I found myself reading about the discontinuation news, chin in hand, and decided to try this affordable alternative. While it's pretty in its own right, it's noticeably different from Galapagos. The base color, pearl size, pearl density, and how it builds up are all slightly different.
This one has a less reddish base with higher brightness, and the shimmer is more pronounced compared to Galapagos.
After comparing them side by side in various combinations, I've concluded that my best look is still achieved by applying it all over, filling in even the under-eye area, and finishing with a brick-colored lip.
ConsIf you just want a similar shade in your collection, this budget version might suffice. However, those who were particularly attached to the original Galapagos will likely be disappointed.
From what I've seen, the old version seems genuinely similar to the original.
