I have a deep undertone with a lot of yellow, so I chose the Smoked Hazel shade. The Missha Cotton Contour Shading has incredibly fine and soft particles, making it easy to apply without any clumping or patchiness. The pigmentation isn't too intense, allowing you to build up the color gradually, which makes it easy to control the amount. Sometimes when warm-toned people mistakenly use cool-toned shading, it can look shadowy and dirty, but this shade doesn't give that effect at all. It has a subtle reddish undertone that looks very natural. I'm currently using this product for shading my eyelids, nose, and chin, and I absolutely love it. I wanted a single-color shading product that fits perfectly in one hand, without a mirror or being too big, and this is just perfect. The case is plastic, not magnetic, and doesn't close tightly, so it might open accidentally. Also, the case isn't particularly sturdy, which is a bit disappointing. - ss*******Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinInner DrynessRecommendedApr 3, 2025
So incredibly natural-looking and affordable! There's no reason not to buy it. It's small and lightweight, making it a must-have for travel You need to be careful with the amount you use! If you're not careful, you might end up looking like you're in the musical Cats - jy*****Combination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedApr 1, 2025
I tried Missha's Smoked Hazel because I heard it was known for its natural look, and I really loved the color. It didn't have much yellow or red undertones, which was great. I appreciated how it created a truly natural-looking contour. The pan size was quite small, which worked fine for nose contouring, but it was a bit inconvenient when using a larger brush for areas like the jawline and cheekbones. If they released this exact shade in a larger pan, I'd definitely consider purchasing it again. - h5*******Normal SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMar 17, 2025
1. Packaging I bought this Missha shading product as it's known for being a great value contour. This shade in particular is a subtle shadowing color that enhances facial contours naturally without being too intense. The product itself is thin and compact, making it convenient to carry, and the simple case gives it a clean look. 2. Color Smoked Hazel is a neutral grayish-brown that's neither too red nor too yellow, perfect for creating natural shadows. Many affordable contour products tend to be too red or yellow, making color selection difficult, but this one has just the right neutral tone for daily use. • Warm/Neutral tones: Creates a natural shadow effect, ideal for defining facial structure • Cool tones: While not extremely gray, it lacks red or orange tones, making it suitable for cool skin tones too 3. Texture, Blending As the name suggests, it has a cotton-soft texture. It adheres to the skin smoothly without clumping or feeling loose. • Fine particles prevent caking Adheres lightly to skin and blends in naturally • Easy to blend Layers well without clumping, spreading evenly • Matte finish No micro-shimmer or shine, allowing for cleaner contour Unlike many cheap contour products that can feel heavy or clumpy, this one doesn't have much excess and adheres well, making it easy even for beginners to use. 4. Versatility ✔ Nose contouring: Suitable for subtly enhancing the nose bridge ✔ Cheekbone and jawline shadowing: Defines facial structure without looking artificial ✔ Eye makeup base: Can be used as a shadow base, useful for daily makeup ✔ Hairline correction: Naturally fills in the forehead line, creating the illusion of a smaller face The color is especially suitable for contouring beginners, creating natural shadows without making the face look too dark or dull. 5. Longevity, Adherence It has pretty good staying power. Unlike many cheap contours that fade quickly or become patchy, this one lasts well while fading naturally. ✔ Powder type doesn't need fixing → Can be used on oily skin without worry ✔ Maintains well even after wearing a mask → Doesn't transfer much, keeping makeup looking fresh all day 6. Recommended for ✅ Those wanting natural shadow contouring ✅ Those looking for a neutral brown without red or yellow undertones ✅ Those wanting a soft texture that's easy to blend, even for beginners ✅ Those looking for a good value contour 7. Overall Review (⭐ 4.8/5) Missha Cotton Contour Fact in Smoked Hazel offers a light, soft texture, natural shadowing color, and excellent value! It's highly recommended for those seeking a contour that defines facial structure without being too intense. 1. Somewhat light color payoff While good for natural contouring, it might seem too light for those wanting intense shading. Multiple layers may be needed to achieve desired intensity. 2. Not perfect longevity Although it adheres well initially, it may gradually fade over time. Especially on oily skin, staying power might decrease. 3. Slight powder kickup Due to its fine texture, there might be some powder kickup when picking up product with a brush. However, it's not very noticeable when applied to the face. 4. Not a large amount of product Being on the smaller side, it may run out quicker than expected if used daily. 5. May appear grayish on some skin tones While it's a neutral color, it might look slightly grayish and unnatural on certain skin tones (especially olive complexions). 6. Simple packaging While portable, the design isn't particularly luxurious or sturdy. Keep these points in mind and you'll find it's a good value product that's easy to use. 1. How to apply for natural color payoff ✔ Layer gradually instead of applying a lot at once Since the color isn't too intense, for natural shadowing, it's important to apply thin layers with a brush multiple times. ✔ Blend by patting Instead of rubbing, gently pat with a brush while blending for more even application. 2. Contouring methods for different face shapes ✔ Round faces: Blend in a C-shape along temples, under cheekbones, and jawline for a slimming effect ✔ Angular faces: Softly contour along the jawline to refine facial structure ✔ Long faces: Apply to forehead and chin to create a more balanced look 3. Tips for natural nose contouring ✔ Start from below the eyebrows rather than just the sides of the nose To avoid an unnatural look, start from the inner eyebrows and gradually fade towards the nose tip ✔ Finish with residual product on the brush Instead of applying heavily to the nose tip, lightly sweep with leftover product on the brush for a natural blend 4. How to make it last longer ✔ Use appropriate base after skincare To prevent the contour from looking patchy, it's important to use a matte base after skincare ✔ Set with fixer or powder Lightly dusting translucent powder over the contour can help it last longer 5. Multi-use tips ✔ Use as eyeshadow base Can be used as a natural shadow base, especially good for daily makeup ✔ Hairline correction Lightly touch along the hairline to create the illusion of a smaller face ✔ Use on neck and collarbones Can be used to naturally blend any color difference between face and neck, or to add dimension to collarbones - re*******Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedFeb 4, 2025
I love how it doesn't have that grayish tint. Even my personal color consultant recommended it, saying they nailed the shade. It really sticks to the basics. I haven't found any downsides yet. Though the amount you get doesn't seem particularly generous. - le*********Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessDead Skin CellsRecommendedDec 13, 2024
I recently bought this contouring product as part of a 1+1 deal! In the past, I've found that some contour products have weak pigmentation and a yellowish tint, which was a bit disappointing. However, Missha's contour has amazing color payoff and a perfect ashy tone!! I think it would suit all complexions. I noticed it can clump slightly! But I found that applying it with a soft brush over well-powdered skin helped improve the application. I recommend this more for jaw contouring rather than nose contouring! It's perfect for quick and easy application with a large brush. - ny********Dry SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessRecommendedSep 12, 2024
I bought this for contouring my jawline, and it's exactly the shade I wanted. I used to use a really yellow one before, but this is perfect for cool-toned skin. It has a grayish tint with absolutely no yellow undertones. It's incredibly affordable and works amazingly well. My friend, who suits both light cool summer and cool winter tones, tried it and loved it too, so I followed her recommendation. The excess powder is more noticeable than expected, but at this price point, I can overlook that minor issue. - an******Combination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedAug 1, 2024
I discovered this product while searching for a contouring solution for my nose! The color leans more cool-toned than warm, making it ideal for nose contouring. It's not overly cool-toned though, so even those with warm complexions like myself can use it comfortably. The light shade allows for easy layering, and the quantity is perfect for carrying around. Overall, I'm satisfied with this product as it doesn't have any major drawbacks! I don't really have any significant complaints. However, it's smaller compared to other contouring products, which might make it a bit challenging to use for jaw contouring. - ha*********Oily SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesEnlarged PoresRecommendedJul 6, 2024
The volume is surprisingly generous, so I've been using it for a long time. It looks natural when used for nose contouring. It seems more suitable for cool-toned contouring rather than warm tones. When applied to the jawline, it's barely noticeable. - sh******Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedJul 2, 2024
Affordable and beautiful color. Great for contouring the nose and adding eye shadow in one go. Nothing particularly bad. The staying power is decent and it applies smoothly. There's not much excess powder either.
