As someone with extremely oily skin who can never use foundation, this is the only one that works for me. While I can't apply it meticulously all over my face, it's still the sole foundation I can actually use. Looking at the ingredients, it's a bit disappointing, but what can you do? With oily skin, I don't have many options. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinRecommendedMar 3, 2020
I use shade 20 of this product. Is it no longer available? I prefer Chanel's signature lightweight feel, which is why I also use their Le Beige cushion foundation. The unique feature of this product is its velvet-like finish, but typically such products feel heavy. However, this one is incredibly lightweight. It's perfect for a natural, no-makeup look. When applied lightly, it looks just like bare skin. The thinness allows your skin to breathe more, if you know what I mean. For those with dry skin, it can definitely feel a bit drying. It's best to pay extra attention to your skincare routine before applying this product. Highly recommended for achieving a natural, no-makeup look. - mi*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedDec 10, 2019
Leaves a powdery soft finish! It seems perfect for oily skin types. I use it often in summer, but for me, it's a bit drying for winter use. While the coverage isn't high compared to its mattifying power, it gives a beautifully transparent and velvety finish that makes your skin look gorgeous! It's too drying for those with dry skin! The signature Chanel fragrance doesn't really appeal to me. It tends to become powdery quite quickly, which is a bit disappointing. I won't repurchase, but I might consider it again come summertime. Applying with your fingers seems to be the most effective method! Using a puff tends to absorb too much product. Rather than squeezing out a large amount on the back of your hand, it's better to dispense just enough to apply directly to your skin. It's not as thick a product as you might expect! - bb********Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedOct 8, 2019
My skin tends to get oily quickly, causing makeup to look shiny soon after application. Sometimes, the excess oil even makes the foundation separate from my skin. That's why longevity and a matte finish are crucial when I choose a foundation. This product sets to a powdery finish and has a thin consistency. Using a brush, I can apply it in a sheer layer for a natural, 'my skin but better' look. When a bit of oil comes through, it actually makes my skin look incredibly healthy. On hectic days when I forget to use blotting papers, the foundation's own matte properties can keep me covered for a few hours. While it's a matte formula, with a solid base underneath, I can achieve a bare-faced look, which is why I reach for it so often. Due to my facial redness, I typically only use yellow-based foundations. However, with Chanel... the yellow undertone is far too intense. Additionally, the concern about potentially harmful ingredients is an issue. If these two aspects could be improved, it would be perfect. While everyone cries out for longevity and a matte finish, I've found that using matte products from the base layer up can result in heavy-looking makeup. I prefer using a sunscreen and base with a balanced oil and moisture content for a smooth, hydrated canvas. Then, I use a brush to lightly sweep on a thin layer of foundation. This technique gives the illusion of naturally flawless skin. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedSep 6, 2019
It gives a light powdery finish with amazing coverage! Not too greasy and perfect for combination dehydrated skin. After some time, it might seem to darken slightly, but this could vary from person to person. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJul 23, 2019
As someone with combination dehydrated skin prone to acne, I exclusively use velvet formulas in summer. While Shu Uemura Unlimited has a similar texture, Chanel's ability to maintain a clear complexion over time without breaking down is unmatched. It's gentle on blemish-prone skin. Just make sure to thoroughly moisturize as the final step in your skincare routine. If your skin is dry or you haven't exfoliated dead skin cells properly, the powder component of the foundation becomes more noticeable. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedJun 12, 2019
I used to use Estée Lauder, but it felt a bit heavy and suffocating, so I switched. And wow, it's amazing! It truly gives a velvet-like finish!! The texture is incredibly lightweight too! It seems that to achieve that velvet effect, it inevitably feels a bit dry. I'm afraid it might not suit those with extremely dry skin. Sometimes I feel it's a bit drying too, but when that happens, I mix it with Le Beige! It makes it much more hydrating. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedFeb 18, 2019
For someone like me with excessively oily skin in summer, I loved how it finished with a matte feel, yet made my skin look hydrated as time passed! On days when I don't apply my skincare properly, it tends to sit on top of the skin. Also, the packaging is a bit flimsy. If you open the cap carelessly, the water-based formula can spill out easily. If you want more coverage, try applying a different foundation as a base and then layer this Chanel one on top. The color is beautiful and I love how it sets to a soft, matte finish.
