The scent is refreshingly pleasant. It has that typical aroma you often find in vitamin C skincare products. Unfortunately, there are quite a few drawbacks. Initially, after using it twice, I thought it was decent, unlike Kiehl's Ultra Cream. It seemed to provide hydration and had a nice fragrance. However, from the third use onwards, things went downhill. First off, it made my face itchy when applied. Instead of feeling like a moisturizing layer, it felt heavy on my skin. Looking at the ingredients list, I suspect it's due to the high dimethicone content. This type of formulation was popular in Korea about 20 years ago, but Kiehl's is still using it... The dimethicone doesn't agree with my skin. The texture is slippery, and it feels suffocating after application. To make matters worse, it pills when applied before makeup. I believe Kiehl's is a brand that those with super sensitive skin should avoid at all costs. If you have super sensitive skin, steer clear of this product. Considering its price, the outdated texture, and problematic ingredients, there's absolutely no reason to recommend it! - em*******Dry SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedMay 19, 2025
This cream has a wonderfully soft and smooth texture that is not too runny. The water cream is not ideal to be used alone, so I've been utilizing it as an intermediate step. - km******Combination SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsDark CirclesInner DrynessEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsRecommendedMar 18, 2025
I've been using this product for about 6 months, and it's been my go-to all summer long. It absorbs cleanly without any stickiness or rich feeling. These days, I only use it after my morning cleanse. I highly recommend this for those who dislike products that feel greasy or sticky on the skin. There are no drawbacks to mention. - su**********Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinMar 14, 2025
It's so lightweight that you can barely feel it going on, and even after layering multiple times, it doesn't feel heavy at all. When applied, it stings and itches, and it actually caused small bumps to appear on my skin. - m.*************Combination SkinSensitive SkinWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedMar 5, 2025
I tried Kiehl's Calendula Serum-Infused Water Cream, which provides both hydration and soothing effects simultaneously. ✔️ Application & Absorption ✨ Light and soft texture - As a gel-type cream, I loved how it smoothly glides on the fingertips. It adheres gently to the skin without feeling heavy or sticky. ✨ Quick absorption - The moment you apply it, you can feel the moisture being deeply absorbed, instantly hydrating the skin. It's low in oil and finishes with a fresh feel, so it doesn't cause pilling even when used before makeup. ✔️ Recommended Skin Types ✅ Oily skin lacking moisture - Its lightweight formula provides refreshing hydration without the burden of excess oil. ✅ Sensitive skin - Thanks to the calendula ingredient, it's gentle and calms the skin comfortably. ✅ Combination skin - It balances oil and moisture well, so even those concerned about T-zone oiliness can use it without worry. If you're looking for a moisturizing and lightweight hydrating cream, Kiehl's Calendula Serum-Infused Water Cream seems like a great choice. I especially recommend it to those who found heavy or sticky creams burdensome. ▪ May lack sufficient moisturization for dry skin - It's better to layer it with other moisturizing creams rather than using it alone. ▪ The scent may be divisive - It has a natural herbal scent, but those sensitive to fragrances might want to check it out first. I was so surprised by how moisturizing and soft it felt when I first applied it! I fell in love with its hydrating effect! Highly recommended for those seeking intense hydration! You can use it alone in spring and summer, and in fall and winter, it works great when you create a moisture barrier with an oil-based cream on top. - yi*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresJan 30, 2025
It glides on smoothly with a watery texture, creating a sensation of an oil and moisture balance barrier. The hydration power was quite satisfactory. For irritated skin or after shaving (like eyebrow grooming...), you'll immediately feel a stinging and tingling sensation. It can cause significant skin irritation. - wl*******Dehydrated SkinInner DrynessDead Skin CellsRecommendedJan 15, 2025
Product Features 1. Key Ingredient: Contains calendula flower extract, which helps soothe and hydrate the skin. 2. Lightweight Texture: Soft and light consistency that absorbs easily into the skin. 3. Hydration: Provides deep moisturizing effects to keep dry skin hydrated. Advantages - Soothing Effect: The calendula ingredient calms the skin, making it particularly effective for irritated skin. - Fresh Feel: Finishes without stickiness, allowing for comfortable use even in summer. - Suitable for Various Skin Types: Works well not only for sensitive skin but also for normal skin types. Disadvantages - Hydration Limitations: May lack sufficient moisturizing power for extremely dry skin, potentially requiring a more intensive moisturizer. - Scent: The natural fragrance of calendula might be polarizing for some users. - bl**********Combination SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsRecommendedJan 6, 2025
I've been using this product for a long time, even buying the full-size after trying the sample. Personally, I love all Kiehl's skincare products, but this water cream is my absolute favorite. It's perfect to apply after a shower when your face feels warm. I simply pat on some toner and essence, then follow with this cream for an amazing calming effect. What I love most is how it adds hydration without feeling sticky, leaving my skin feeling light and moisturized while delivering all the benefits of a cream. The only downside is that Kiehl's products are quite expensive, which can be a bit challenging for students to purchase regularly. - wl******Combination SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsDec 9, 2024
The lightweight cream texture applies smoothly and true to its name, it transforms into a water-like consistency upon application. It feels similar to most serums in terms of how it glides on, but the texture is more cream-like. Although my skin isn't particularly sensitive, this product causes an intense burning sensation on my cheeks when applied. The burning is so intense it's almost stinging. While my skin texture does feel softer after absorption, there's an odd disconnect between how it feels on the surface versus deeper layers. I experienced a slight warming sensation when using the toner from the same line, but it worked well for me. This might be a good option for those who found the toner suitable and prefer a lighter alternative to heavy creams. However, the value for money seems quite poor given the amount you get. - lo*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedDec 5, 2024
Skin type: Large pores / Sensitive / Combination dehydrated skin After buying this at a department store, I read the Hwahae reviews and thought I'd return it the next day. I tried the tester first and felt a tingling sensation even around my eyes. I considered washing it off with water, but decided to wait and see how it settled. Fortunately, my skin calmed down and felt firmer and more elastic than before. Sometimes it stings a bit, which I think is the product working to antioxidize when my skin isn't in the best condition. It works well for me, addressing my deep dryness, so I'm using it consistently. I asked the staff to recommend a cream without stearic acid as it doesn't suit me, but they kept suggesting creams that actually contained it, claiming they didn't. Luckily, only this cream I chose myself didn't have stearic acid in its ingredients. I recommend checking the ingredients of Kiehl's products on Hwahae before purchasing. When buying in-store, they provide tester products, so it's best to try those first before using the full-size product.
