A moisturizer that's like an oasis for oily yet dehydrated skin! I was using Innisfree's Artichoke Cream when it was suddenly discontinued, leaving me in a state of panic. That's when I discovered COSRX's Soothing Cream, which turned out to be a wonderfully cost-effective cream I'm grateful for. At the time, my skin was blemish-prone, dehydrated, and oily. Most creams either felt suffocating or wouldn't absorb well even after exfoliating. The discontinued cream had solved all these issues, helping me maintain hydrated, radiant skin. While feeling lost, I found COSRX's Soothing Cream. Though the jar was small and didn't contain a huge amount - about a month's supply - I found it to be great value. For summer, this amount is actually perfect if you're not storing it in the fridge. The cream has a subtle green tint, absorbs well, feels lightweight, and is deeply hydrating. It has quite a nice texture for summer skin that usually doesn't respond well to products.
ConsHowever, the issue with gel creams is that they can pill if you apply too much! So if you try to layer it thinly, it might roll off like dead skin cells midway through application. If you want to layer, you need to apply the next layer before the previous one dries completely.

It's lightweight, moisturizing, prevents blemishes, and offers incredible value for money.
ConsIf applied before makeup (and you don't control the amount well), the formula might cause pilling...

When used on top of a sheet mask or as a toner pack, it provides a cooling sensation and prevents the mask from drying out too quickly.
ConsDue to the nature of gel-type products, it doesn't excel in moisture retention, so it's best used in combination with other skincare items. Applying too much can lead to pilling, making it unsuitable for use before makeup application.

ConsThere are these little granules mixed in that don't dissolve well. It also has a tendency to pill and gives me a somewhat suffocating feeling on my skin, so I had to stop using it.

I normally use Make P:rem cream, but I thought it might be too heavy for summer, so I looked for a gel cream. After seeing good reviews, I decided to buy this one. The best thing about it is that while not dramatic, it seems to help a bit with calming blemishes. Maybe it's because of the panthenol? I noticed that after popping a pimple, it seemed to calm down faster than expected. During the peak of summer, I kept it in the fridge and used it cool - it felt amazing when my face was feeling hot.
ConsIf I apply it a bit too thick, it tends to pill without fail. Other than that, I don't have any major complaints. Well... maybe I wish it came in a tube instead of a jar?

To my surprise, it exceeded my expectations! It's a gel cream, so it absorbs well and isn't too rich, making it perfect for summer use. Despite being lightweight, it provides excellent hydration that doesn't evaporate quickly. I think the rich version would be great for winter, and this one should work well until early fall.
ConsBeing a gel cream with a slightly thick consistency, it can pill if not applied carefully. It's not noticeable when just doing skincare, but before applying makeup, you'll need to spread it thoroughly and evenly.

Applied generously and patted, it took about 40 seconds to absorb. Rather than a deeply moisturizing feel, it's more of a soft, hydrated sensation. You can feel that you've applied something, but with almost zero oiliness, it's not intensely hydrating, but has a light feel. -------------------- 1. Daily use: Routine: Cica Noid exfoliating toner + Innisfree Artichoke Skin Intensive (layered twice) + Innisfree Volcanic Sea Water Ampoule (twice) + COSRX product + Innisfree The Minimum Sunscreen Before going out, I applied too much thinking of the hand test, which caused pilling. Wiped with toner and reapplied with adjusted amount. No itching, stinging, or eye irritation - feels gentle on the skin. After 9 hours out, returned home with no tightness, clumping, or residue. No excess oil in the T-zone, but eyes felt dry without eye cream. #Unlike emulsions, the lack of oiliness means no stickiness, good for summer use. No clogged pores and lightweight, so no shine. However, it might be too dry to use alone. Eyes and mouth area feel a bit tight. -------------------- 2. Night care: Routine: Double cleanse (oil & foam) + Cica Noid exfoliating toner + Missha Purple Ampoule + Swanycoco Peptide Eye Cream + COSRX product #No tightness, heaviness, or irritation upon waking. Skin feels natural, like your own. But not an intensely moisturized feeling. -------------------- 3. With makeup: Routine: Cica Noid exfoliating toner + Scinic First Essence + Innisfree Artichoke Skin Intensive (layered twice) + Innisfree Volcanic Sea Water Ampoule + COSRX product + Innisfree The Minimum Sunscreen + Makeup @Used Goodcera mist every hour + occasionally patted on emulsion for touch-ups #No tightness or pilling. Minimal oil production. Not extremely dry, but some deep dryness as time passes. However, no visible flaking or base makeup clumping. Usually get whiteheads on nose with emulsions, but not with this. Slight dryness around eyes when applying eyeshadow. -------------------- 4. Home care: After double cleansing, used with various treatments like Cellreturn mask, aqua peeling device, sheet masks, etc. #Usually my skin reacts badly to even slightly heavy treatments done once a week, but this finished cleanly without issues. Had one minor sensitivity, but it was milder than usual. -------------------- Overall impression - Unless you have very oily skin, it's best used with an emulsion. Not recommended for those with thin skin, even if oily.. can cause eye wrinkles. When using sunscreen, it's better to use one with slight oiliness, or use an eye cream or emulsion. It applies lightly, which is nice, but constantly feels a bit lacking. After two weeks of use, my skin seems to have become drier. This could be due to recent weather changes, so further observation is needed. Good for being non-irritating, non-stinging, and blemish-free.
ConsDisappointing that it doesn't come with a spatula. Layering is impossible due to pilling. Absorbs well, but absorption varies by skin type, so it's crucial to find the right amount at first. Not sure if it's a characteristic of gel creams, but the amount that pills is enormous. Never seen this much pilling before. Feels dry when used with sunscreen. As we're approaching air conditioning season, it might be too drying unless you have very oily skin. It's not particularly bad or good, but seems okay for soothing and cooling purposes.
TipBeing a gel type, applying it chilled might enhance its cooling effect, potentially aiding in soothing the skin.

Reviews by The Hwahae Testers undergo the same strict verification process as regular reviews, and if they don't meet our standards, revisions will be requested.Pros((The Hwahae Testers review)) Hydration: Unlike many gel-type products that often leave skin feeling tight after application, this one is genuinely moisturizing! It doesn't make your skin greasy or taut - it's just right, as if it's giving your skin exactly what it needs. You know how they say if something's comfortable, you don't even notice it? That's exactly how this feels - I barely realized I'd applied anything! Blemishes: As someone with sensitive, acne-prone skin, I've avoided creams for a while because even slightly rich products would immediately cause issues. Recently, though, my skin felt particularly dehydrated, so I gave this a try. Usually, my skin acts up easily, and I tend to touch my face a lot, so I was just hoping it wouldn't make things worse. But wow... I was shocked when I looked in the mirror the next morning! My blemishes had calmed down significantly, as if I hadn't been picking at them the night before. I thought maybe I just had a good night's sleep, but I've used it every day since, even when my skin feels hot and blemishes are forming. Without fail, they're much less noticeable by morning! I was worried it might be a temporary effect or due to some questionable ingredients, but the formula is actually great. I'm extremely satisfied and will definitely consider repurchasing if I can! Scent: It's unscented, though there's a slight smell that's not at all bothersome. I usually go for gentle products, and sometimes the 'clean' formulas can have divisive scents, but this one is just perfect!
ConsPilling: This seems to be an unavoidable issue with gel products. It doesn't pill excessively, but if you gently massage it in circular motions, it can form little clumps. Usage Instructions: It seems like it should be used as a cream, but it feels odd to apply after an emulsion, and using it alone doesn't feel quite right either. I looked for instructions, but couldn't find any on the product, packaging, or even from the seller. There were no mentions from other users either about when to apply it or when it works best. (I might have missed something, though!) If you're not too concerned about specific usage instructions, it shouldn't be a problem!
TipI'm not sure if this counts as a pro tip, but applying this product after just toner strikes the perfect balance - not too heavy, not too light, not drying, and not greasy! I'm so glad I got to try this great product! While others have shared photos of how it helped with blemishes, I can confirm I experienced similar results!

First Impressions - Initial feel on hands: Moisturizing, completely fragrance-free, with a cooling effect. There's a slight heaviness at the end. - Initial feel on face: There was a cooling effect and a slight warming sensation. I expected it to be super lightweight like aloe gel, but it's not that light. I'm not sure about deep dryness yet, but it seems you need to apply about two layers for hydration. - Next morning: My skin, which used to be extremely cracked and flaky, has calmed down tremendously. 2. Texture & Scent - True to its purpose for combination dehydrated skin, unlike highly concentrated creams, it has a soothing gel-like texture but with a pudding-like consistency that isn't sticky. I'm very sensitive to scents, but this has no smell at all, so I've been using it consistently. 3. Deep Dryness - Before using this product, my skin couldn't adapt to the sudden seasonal changes. Hidden eczema surfaced on my face, causing redness, blemishes, dead skin cells, and extreme dryness on both cheeks. My makeup wouldn't even stay on. But from the first week, the deep dryness in my skin really decreased. Especially, all the eczema that had flared up has gone down. **Although there's a significant difference in brightness in the photos, the redness and other issues have completely disappeared. My skin has improved so much.**
Cons1. Hygiene - I was disappointed that it didn't come with a spatula, which I expected for a jar-type cream. 2. Pilling - The pilling isn't so bad that it's unusable, but when I apply it before makeup and don't let it absorb completely, I notice a very slight pilling, especially around the nose area...
Tip1. Highly recommended for those with sensitive, combination dehydrated skin. It's gentle yet refreshing, addressing deep dryness, redness, and blemishes. However, those with extremely dry skin might find it a bit lacking in moisture! 2. When applying cream before bed, layer it once, let it absorb fully, then apply another layer. If you sleep like this, your makeup will apply incredibly well the next day.

Reviews by The Hwahae Testers undergo the same strict verification process as regular reviews, and if they don't meet our standards, revisions will be requested.ProsAs a member of The Hwahae Testers, I won't sugarcoat my review just because I received the product for free. This is an honest review. My skin can be described in one word: huge pores. I rarely notice improvements with most products, especially with makeup. Due to my large pores, anything that isn't exceptionally refreshing makes my skin look like an oil slick. The biggest advantage of this soothing gel cream is its refreshing feel and cooling effect. To be honest, that's about all I can say for certain. While I'm not sure about other benefits, its cooling effect is outstanding in bringing down the temperature of skin that's been irritated all day. If you're wondering why you should use this instead of aloe gel, it's because it offers a different kind of freshness. It's not sticky and absorbs quickly, leaving a pretty nice feeling. The texture also feels oddly satisfying when applying. To sum up, it's great for using in the evening as a calming, cooling product that refreshes the skin and brings down its temperature.
ConsIt pills. If you apply makeup over it, it starts to peel off. Of course, those who have a leisurely morning routine might wait for it to fully absorb before applying makeup. But for those like me who are pressed for time in the morning, it's not easy to wait for even a moisturizer to fully absorb. If you don't let it absorb completely before applying makeup, your makeup will pill. Perhaps because it focuses on the cooling effect, the hydration doesn't seem to last very long. Even if you have oily skin, you'll need to layer another cream on top of this one.
TipAn evening gel cream for calming and cooling oily skin
