As a longtime user of the original hair vinegar for oily scalps, I switched to this product because it's not as runny, more affordable, and comes in a larger size. While it's not specifically for improving hair texture, I apply it to my scalp after using a treatment, focusing on the crown area. I don't use it on my hair strands. I gently massage it with a scalp brush and then rinse. Since I have oily skin prone to blemishes and dry hair that needs nourishing treatments, I use this to cleanse any residual product from my scalp. It's definitely effective - I've noticed a significant reduction in scalp issues since I started this more attentive routine. Honestly, I'm not a fan of the scent. I suspect they made it strong to mask the scalp odor, but I'm not sure if it was chosen to cover up the vinegar smell. I think a subtle floral scent or even an unscented version would be better. - y2**Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMay 29, 2020
Cooling sensation, refreshing feel, and a non-sweet scent (unlike other brands that are too sweet and cause headaches). Hair becomes softer, and there's no residue when rinsing. The volume-to-price ratio is superior to other products. Personally, I find the fragrance pleasantly neutral. While the container allows for easy application directly to the scalp, it's difficult to control the amount dispensed. (This issue can be resolved with a tip.) What you'll need: A medicine dropper from the pharmacy and a foaming container. Pour about 30ml (enough for one use) into the dropper and apply it evenly to your scalp, using up all the liquid. Then, pump an appropriate amount into the foaming container and apply the foam to your hair for better absorption. (3-4 pumps for long hair) Massage your scalp and hair thoroughly for 1 minute. The foam doesn't drip and is easy to apply to your hair! - ha******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinFeb 23, 2020
I have atopic, acne-prone, sensitive, and combination dehydrated skin. Product details: Texture: Very watery, liquid consistency Scent: Refreshing apple fragrance Color: Transparent Positive aspects: The application feels cool and pleasant! The pointed nozzle makes it easy to apply directly to the scalp. It has a nice scent, affordable price, and generous volume. The formula is too runny, so it doesn't stay on the hair or scalp and drips off. After using up the entire bottle, I didn't notice any significant effects beyond the temporary cooling sensation during application. - nn*****Dry SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresRecommendedNov 30, 2019
I highly recommend this for those with oily scalps! I have thin hair and an oily scalp, but after using this instead of conditioner every time I washed my hair for about 5 days, my scalp felt clean for longer and it really helped control the excess oil. Despite being vinegar-based, it doesn't damage your hair at all. In fact, it makes your hair feel softer and stronger! The amount you get for the price is a bit disappointing. I wash my hair morning and night, and I like to thoroughly soak my scalp, so I go through it quite quickly. Still, the results are so good that I keep stocking up! If you don't have very oily hair, you can use this instead of shampoo, or as a finishing rinse after a scalp scrub. It's also great for calming scalp heat. When using it in place of shampoo, make sure to thoroughly wet your hair and massage your scalp until it lathers up. - ki******Combination SkinRecommendedNov 17, 2019
This is a review for winning the Hwahae giveaway! It's definitely a product that tidies up and softens your hair! As it was my first time trying a hair vinegar, I was worried it might irritate my scalp, but there was absolutely no irritation. (Individual results may vary. My scalp condition is quite average.) It would be great if the container could be changed to a pump or another form! When using it, it's hard to control the amount, and I accidentally spilled about 1/3 of the bottle once, which was disappointing. The product actually smells like apple cider vinegar, which some people might find off-putting depending on personal preference. Using it in the order of shampoo - hair vinegar - conditioner seems to be as beneficial for your hair as regularly using a treatment! When I actually used it, my long-time hairstylist at the salon commented that my hair suddenly looked better. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSep 17, 2019
I couldn't find anything positive about this product for me... The lid was the only part with that design, while the container opening was just like a regular drink bottle. I used it with a spare nozzle from L'Occitane's hair vinegar, but the chemical smell was so strong it overpowered any apple scent and made me nauseous. I had to rinse my hair thoroughly. - hw************Oily SkinEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedSep 12, 2019
This is a review from a Hwahae Tester winner!! After receiving the product, I waited about three months to write this review since it's a functional hair product and I felt it needed some time to show its effects. First off, while it seems quite a few people disliked the scent based on other reviews, I was satisfied with it. The characteristic vinegar tang lingers, but it's pleasantly neutralized by a subtle, refreshing apple fragrance. I'm also pleased with its functionality. After using it consistently for three months, I've noticed a significant reduction in split ends. It's really challenging to control the amount you use. The texture is almost like water with very little viscosity, so I've already used well over half the bottle in the three months since I first started using it. - co*****Dry SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedJul 29, 2019
The biggest advantage was that it's light enough to use in summer when regular conditioners or treatments feel too heavy. I loved the picnic apple scent! It left my scalp feeling refreshed. Controlling the amount was quite challenging, and it often didn't dispense well, making it difficult to apply where needed. When my mom and I used it together, we nearly finished a bottle in less than two weeks! It seems to run out faster because it's liquid. I might be more inclined to purchase if it were available in bulk on home shopping networks. While it's decent for scalp use, those buying it for its conditioning effects might not find it particularly satisfying. Since the conditioning effect isn't that significant anyway, focus on applying it to your scalp. It leaves your scalp feeling incredibly refreshed. - db******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJul 6, 2019
My scalp used to itch frequently, but after using this product, the itchiness has significantly improved. It's been absolutely revolutionary and I'm so thrilled with the results. I really want to recommend this to others! The scent was a bit strong, but I didn't mind it. Also, since the formula is quite watery, you need to be careful when applying it. If you follow the usage instructions carefully, you can experience double the effectiveness. - su*****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJul 1, 2019
(Updated 31.8.19) I usually find hair treatments too heavy and slippery for summer, but this one felt refreshingly light, which I loved! :) Compared to another hair vinegar I used before, this made my hair feel softer. However, it's not as effective at improving hair texture as rinse or treatment products. It does make your hair slightly softer, but if you're looking for significant improvement, you might want to use additional products! Personally, I found the scent quite nice. However, it has an artificial apple fragrance that might be hit or miss for some people. The apple scent gave it a very light feel :) The scent only lasts during the shower, and since my hair is short, I'm not sure about its longevity... :(
